We are seeking a Senior Estimator - Construction to join our dynamic team in Cambridge/Kitchener, ON. This role is critical to planning and delivering accurate, detailed proposals and cost estimates for construction and modification projects, particularly in nuclear power environments. Key Responsibilities:
Estimating & Cost Analysis:
Develop detailed labour hour estimates using client specifications, engineering packages, and historical data. Obtain and integrate cost quotations for materials, equipment, and consumables. Provide commercial analysis, including proposal pricing, sell-price determination, and cash flow projections. Prepare comprehensive Basis of Estimate (BoE) documents for proposals, change orders, and project estimates. Deliver timely estimates for change management and new scopes to support ongoing projects.Project Planning & Scheduling:
Create and manage proposal schedules (Levels 1–3), ensuring alignment with cost estimates and project scope. Address cost-related schedule issues and integrate project work breakdown structures to define critical paths. Incorporate high-probability proposals into the Master Project Plan with resource loading.Stakeholder Collaboration:
Work closely with engineering, procurement, operations, and project teams to align estimates and schedules. Attend client meetings to clarify proposal details and address technical or commercial inquiries. Foster relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to gather accurate cost information.Risk Management:
Perform detailed risk assessments, recommending mitigation strategies and contingency allocations. Utilize tools like Monte Carlo analysis for contingency planning on complex proposals.Continuous Improvement & Compliance:
Refine estimating processes and tools by incorporating lessons learned. Ensure all estimates meet industry regulations, safety standards, and client requirements. Stay updated on evolving standards in nuclear construction/modification projects.Reporting:
Develop reports on proposals, bookings, forecasting, and proposal Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Provide insights to support resource planning and financial forecasting.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in a technical or commercial field (MBA preferred). Minimum 15 years of estimating experience in construction/modification projects, with 10+ years in nuclear power projects. In-depth knowledge of nuclear industry standards, PMI PMBOK, and AACE best practices.Technical Proficiency:
Advanced expertise in Microsoft Excel (data analysis, business finance); proficiency will be evaluated during the interview process. Skilled in MS Office 365 tools (Word, Visio, PowerPoint). Experience with Primavera P6 or equivalent scheduling software (training provided if needed).Core Competencies:
Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Strong technical writing and communication abilities for effective collaboration and reporting. Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team environment.

The base salary range for this position in [[Ontario]] at the start of employment is expected to be between $[[87,000]] and $[[135,000]] per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits.
