Compensation: Yearly Salary Range of $85,000 up to $95,000 based on experience

Position Summary: Under limited supervision, leads, coordinates, and oversees the scheduling and coordination of events at the OCC and to provide support and assistance to the Director of Event Services
Essential Functions:
Responsible for functioning as a liaison between clients and the operating departments by providing planning and logistical information to both.Ensures successful events at the OCC through the supervision and training of Event Managers.Schedules staff to ensure that all events are professionally coordinated.Provides written communications to all facility departments.Ensures that tenant plans and requests comply with State, City and County rules and regulations.Collects and verifies information from service contractors including the scheduling of event space, facility decorating, early move-ins or over-stays, exhibits, the use of parking facilities, event set-up, and the location of equipment remaining on the property during and/or between events.Supervises the operation of events during tenant occupancy, maintaining contact with tenants to determine that all requests are successfully delivered.Administers, monitors, and enforces facility policies and safety regulations during event operations.Participates in the development and administration of the annual budget by providing feedback to the department director.Reviews and approves final billings following the completion of assigned events.Advises, negotiates, and monitors costs and accounts for tenants.Responds to customer and guest inquiries and resolves difficult and sensitive complaints.Experience/Training/Education:
Required: High School Diploma or GED
Four to five years management level experience coordinating events in a multi-purpose facility which services conventions, exhibits, trade and consumer shows, athletic events, concerts, sales meetings, food and beverage functions, etc. including the training and management of others.
License/Certificate:
Valid California Driver’s License
Knowledge/Abilities/Skills:
Knowledge of:
Convention, trade show, and entertainment terminology and procedures
Audio-visual and electrical equipment and its uses
Laws and regulations pertaining to public assembly facilities
Principals and procedures for crowd control, security, set-up and take down of events,
special lighting, booth wiring, compressed air usage, basic accounting, budget
preparation, facility management, supervision, and training and performance evaluation.
Ability to:
Communicate effectively and professionally both verbally and in writing
Read and interpret blueprints
Identify discrepancies between tenant needs and the capabilities of the facility
Solve problems with tenants and/or employees effectively
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with tenants, employees, peers,
and the public.
Skill to:
Operate modern office equipment, including computer, fax, phone, and copy machine
Operate motor vehicle.
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
Tasks are performed with moderate supervision without assistance for 40% of the workday; pushing and pulling doors open, lifting, stooping, bending and lifting at least 50 lbs. Walking for long distances for more than 50% of workday. This position may require work inside or outside of the building, as needed by events.
Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends and holidays, in addition to normal business hours. Employees may be scheduled to work until 12:00am or later. Must be able to pass background.
