Summary
The Senior Executive General Adjuster provides claim management and loss adjusting expertise to help our clients achieve timely and equitable claims resolution. Under minimal supervision, this role has the (authority) skillset to resolve complex commercial losses by investigating and negotiating adjustment of loss/es. While managing accounts, the SEGA will often supervise field adjusters’ investigation, evaluate damages, coverage, loss cost estimate, and assess the insurer’s exposures and losses. The SEGA will prompt fair and equitable settlements according to claims handling requirements, assist management as requested, and in some instances work as a mentor to a protégé.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Demonstrates professional demeanor, high ethical standards, and enthusiasm for company goals. Examines claims forms, policies, client instructions, and other records to assist their client in determining coverage.  Reviews and audits claim files to ensure compliance with appropriate best practices and claim handling file expectations. Reviews complex financial data, inventories, contracts, quotes, estimates and other documents, and applies sound adjusting techniques to determine loss amounts as covered by the applicable policy. Prepares reports by collecting and summarizing information required by client, local, state, and federal government, and by McLarens. Experience in Effectively Managing Multiple Insurer & Multiple Layered Property Insurance Programs.   Develop technical expertise as well as analytical and strategic capabilities of team members.  Reviews state specific insurance industry trends and changes to case law and educates staff on potential changes. Experience in managing and assisting a team of adjusters. Recommends litigation or subrogation, when appropriate. Presents evidence and serves as an expert witness at legal proceedings. Successful track-record in developing new business and market opportunities. Provides training and mentoring to developing adjusters. Maintains company reputation and insurance product integrity by complying with federal and state regulations and corporate quality standards. Possesses the appropriate licenses as required by the various state Departments of Insurance (DOI).

 

Required Experience & Skills: 

4-year college degree or equivalent work experience. 15+ years of claims adjusting or relevant experience. National & global claims experience. Appropriate state adjuster license. Experience handling complex losses. Knowledge of the independent claims adjusting business.  Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to provide exceptional customer service. Strong critical thinking, analytical and technical skills to assess damages accurately and expedite claims settlements. Ability to plan and prioritize. Potentially significant travel required.

 

Essential Physical Requirements may include:

Travel to inspection sites.  Move about indoors and outdoors to conduct inspections.  Ability to position self to inspect confined spaces, ascend and descend stairwells and ladders, traverse roofs, and work atop roofs.  Ability to maintain balance while traversing on narrow, slippery, or sloping surfaces.  May exert up to 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly while moving objects.  Transport objects weighing up to or exceeding 50 pounds.  Transport, unfold, and extend OSHA approved ladder which may exceed 50 pounds.  Ability to operate a laptop/computer, phone, other office productivity machinery (calculator, printer, etc.), and measuring devices.  Manual dexterity and coordination to extend hands and arms in various directions, using fingers in repetitive motion for keyboarding and writing.  Handle paperwork and files.
