The Center for New Designs in Learning and Scholarship (CNDLS) is Georgetown's center for teaching innovation, research, and excellence. At CNDLS, we enrich the academic experience by supporting faculty and the broader teaching community at Georgetown through a diverse array of programs & initiatives, services, and comprehensive teaching resources.
The Senior Faculty Developer supports the new Georgetown Dialogues Initiative (GDI), an institutional initiative to build capacity for rich student engagement in difficult dialogue around challenging ideas, and encourages free speech and academic expression in our curriculum. The Senior Faculty Developer will facilitate a campus-wide faculty development program that empowers educators to facilitate meaningful dialogues in their classrooms. They will work alongside a dedicated team of professionals from CNDLS and other university units to run workshops, conversations, and other events in support of the GDI, and other faculty initiatives. This role will support the ongoing mission of CNDLS and provide expertise and leadership for working with departments and individual faculty to enhance the integration of dialogue, academic inquiry, and discourse across the university. Successful candidates will have experience in university-level teaching, faculty development, and dialogue initiatives. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Faculty Development: Develop and offer workshops, consultations, training sessions and seminars on key topics related to facilitating dialogue, free speech and expression, academic inquiry and integration of such topics in courses across the curriculum.
Facilitation: Create and model key facilitation strategies, principles, and exercises to enhance the development of skills and approaches for engaging in difficult discussions on challenging and/or charged topics in the learning environment
Resource Development: Research and develop dialogue teaching resources to support the goals of faculty across disciplines.
Program Coordination: Coordinate with, and provide faculty-development leadership for campus-wide programs and projects related to dialogue, free speech, and other areas, as needed. Collaborate with key stakeholders across the university, including students, administrators, and staff. Recruit faculty partners and help to build community connection to the initiative
Program Evaluation: Evaluate and communicate the impact of pedagogical initiatives. Perform other faculty initiative projects, such as the Engelhard Project for Connecting and Learning, or other areas, as needed.

The Senior Educational Developer will work with the Senior Director of Faculty Initiatives and other colleagues to support the GDI and the overall teaching and learning mission of the university.
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in instructional design, educational technology, or related field and 5-7 years of related experience
Dialogue Expertise: Demonstrated experience in teaching dialogue and discourse skills, fostering respectful discussions. Knowledge and understanding of current professional development approaches for working with a broad range of instructors around the development, implementation, and assessment of dialogue and discourse skills
Academic Credentials: A graduate degree (PhD preferred) and significant higher education teaching experience
Facilitation Skills: Excellent facilitation skills with a track record of leading impactful workshops
Scholarly Knowledge: A solid understanding of educational development literature, the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL), and free speech and expression principles
Project Management: Proven project management experience, ensuring effective program delivery, assessment, and evaluation
Adaptability and Collaboration: Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to pivot to meet emerging needs of various stakeholders and units
Outstanding interpersonal, oral and written communication skills for building and maintaining collaborative relationships with students, faculty, staff, and administrators
Demonstrated success working with faculty on teaching and learning approaches, particularly on pedagogical challenges and strategies related to dialogue, free speech, and academic inquiry
A strong commitment to educational excellence and to new ideas and approaches for strengthening teaching and student learning
Knowledge and understanding of current educational practices in faculty and graduate student development, teaching, and assessment
Flexible, well-organized, inquisitive, detail-oriented, creative, ethical, and prepared to thrive in our busy, diverse, and collaborative environment

What We Offer
Competitive Salary: Earn a competitive salary in the $78,000- low $90,000 range, reflecting the candidate’s expertise and contributions.
Renewable Term Position: This is a three-year renewable term position with the potential for long-term growth and impact.
Pay Range:
The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$54,616.00 - $100,493.33Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
