The Senior Failure Investigation Engineer is responsible for applying knowledge of software and electromechanical systems to perform failure investigation on instruments and corresponding subcomponent systems. Your goal is to improve customer experience through measured improvements in reliability, manufacturing yield, and design. This position is part of the Global Supply Chain Instruments team and will be located onsite in Sunnyvale, CA. In this role, you will have the opportunity to: + Create and perform standard work of failure analysis on instrument systems utilizing design documentation, manufacturing test data, software tools, and a variety of lab / bench equipment. + Investigate failures to determine and validate root causes through established techniques and methods such as 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams, ANOVA, and SPC + Provide recommendations for investigation direction and/or countermeasures + Collaborate with and communicate investigation progress and results to other functional groups and management to drive continuous improvement + Identify and trend emerging field issues to escalate to cross functional committee for prioritization The essential requirements of the job include: + Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of related work experience OR Master’s degree in field with 3+ years of related work experience + Extensive experience troubleshooting complex electromechanical systems + Exposure to statistical tools including power levels, t-test, and variance + Exposure to sampling plans and design of experiments (DoE) It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in: + Experience in an ISO 13485, ISO 9001, or medical device manufacturing environment + Experience and proficiency in ERP, CRM, PLM software including SFDC, SAP, and Agile. + Experience with use of EE lab equipment including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, power supplies, and multimeters Cepheid, a Danaher operating company, offers a broad array of comprehensive, competitive benefit programs that add value to our lives. The salary range for this role is $103,000 - $150,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
