Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Scope of Position:
Works with other team members to solve difficult technical, engineering related problems. Leads continuous improvement activities, new equipment & process introductions, and cost reduction projects. Supports drive to fundamental process understanding and lowest cost producer objectives. Supports the development and execution of plans to evaluate new technology or improvements in existing technology resulting in a superior product in terms of quality and/or cost.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
Provide engineering-level production support to manufacturing operations Solve process issues through data analysis, experimentation, and collaboration with subject matter experts. Provide engineering expertise for fundamental understanding of manufacturing issues. Develop mechanical solutions and process changes to control and eliminate manufacturing issues. Lead projects involving cost reduction, equipment optimization, and new products/processes development Actively engage in plant safety initiatives and projects. Recommend/implement improvements to processes and equipment. Identify chronic failure modes or issues and recommend corrective actions. Provide leadership or support for startup of new equipment lines. Develop and update engineering and operations documentation. Provide training for operations workforce regarding equipment or operations changes
Hours of work/work schedule/flextime:
40-50 hours a week, This position requires off-hours coverage on nights and weekends on a rotating basis with co-workers.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Engineering or other technical field Rigorous and creative/innovative problem solving Strong technical fundamentals with process engineering skills Able to collaborate across organizational boundaries and integrate solutions The ability to learn new technology and processes quickly Can establish a broad network across the engineering and technology organizations Good verbal/written communication and presentation skills Interpersonal skills – engaging, enabling, open Results-oriented and high commitment Planning and organization Effective in managing multiple priorities
Desired Skills:
6 Sigma / Greenbelt Certified PMP Certified

The range for this position is $90,378.00 - $118,056.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
