Sr. Field Application Engineer

Austin, Texas- Hybrid

Position Summary

Thales is looking for a Senior Field Application Engineer who is a part of the Device Product Group which are a dedicated team of technical experts within the Embedded Software and Products division. The team works closely with Consumer electronic device manufacturers, IoT device manufacturers and major actors of the automotive ecosystem to ensure the success of the integration of Thales Products & Solutions into final customer products.

Key Areas of Responsibility

The main objective of a Sr Field Application Engineer is to:

Ensure technical support to Sales & Marketing teams throughout the product lifecycle from opportunity detection to products delivery and throughout deployment

Support customers for the integration of Thales products and solutions, from the early stages of the project (design stage) up to final validation in customer production line.

Define and drive the development of all needed tools required to support the integration in customer environment

Be the official Thales technical representative towards customers for product integration and be the “technical voice” of the customer internally to Thales

Responsible for providing active assistance to the customer throughout all the implementation of the product/solution (including attendance at the customer's premises and/or remote support)

Must be hands-on and capable to drive the full lifecycle of integration/issue investigation:

Review integration documents/diagrams.

Take traces, logs, and analyze the results.

Execute post-integration validation plans (ATP) and provide reports.

Present and support on software integration. Middleware, SDKs, support tools, etc.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electronics or Computer Science, Telecommunications etc. or in lieu of a degree, 4 years of relevant exempt experience

At least 5 years of experience in development and/or support related to electronic components and their integration in a system.

Must have prior experience understanding programming languages used in Consumer Electronic Device (e.g. C, C++, Java, C#)

Must have demonstrated experience in protocol development or testing and on the associated Test, Spy & Analysis tools (oscilloscope, sniffer, etc.)

Must have prior experience presenting and understanding technical solutions to both internal and external customers (customer facing)

Must be technical, hands on rather than project management with other people performing the work.

Required adaptability to understand different customers’ environments, as well as a strong autonomy, the ability to work at customer’ premises with demanding deadline and a customer oriented mindset

Special Position Requirements

Travel: Domestic travel 15%. International travel (1 to 2 times max. per year, duration could be 1 to 2 weeks max.)
