Senior Finance Business Partner Oncology

Introduction to role

As a Senior Finance Business Partner, you will lead the partnership between finance and business to achieve strategic and operational goals. You will proactively engage with business leaders, providing financial insight, advice, guidance, and support to influence decision-making and achieve optimal performance. You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining Group Policy in key technical and specialist areas, managing associated risks, providing reports and analysis to support decision-making, and delivering day-to-day operational requirements of the function.

Accountabilities:

Business Strategy & Decision Support

Work proactively with the business to understand future financial information needs and produce efficient solutions to meet these needs (Business Case Development, KPIs etc).Assess the relevant input required to support others during difficult business decisions.Negotiate and communicate effectively across teams and business units and with external parties to achieve a positive outcome, encouraging flexibility when considering options and assessing business impact.Be actively involved in the review and development of short & long-term strategy in your area of accountability, maintaining an up-to-date understanding of all developments that may affect the organization’s operations and policies, and proactively advising customers of all relevant matters to achieve business requirements and objectives.

Continuous Improvement, Governance and Coaching

Initiate changes to improve working practices and processes in Finance and communicate these amongst the Oncology Finance Business Partnering network.Communicate governance and compliance standards and statutory regulations to non-specialists in an understandable and relevant way, effectively relaying the risk of commercial decisions.Lead insightful and proactive risk management processes to ensure adherence to the organization’s regulations, rules, and processes, highlighting areas of concern and promoting continuous improvement in process robustness, sharing best practices across the business.Manage key finance processes in the Oncology BU.Manage cycle financial processes like month closing, budgeting, and monthly reporting.

Business Performance

Jointly accountable with the business for the accuracy of forecasts, using a good understanding of the business model and financial drivers to challenge and influence key cost drivers.Develop reliable operational and financial forecasts ensuring resources are allocated to maximize value creation for AstraZeneca.Lead the financial planning cycle in your area of accountability; setting stretch but achievable performance targets aligned with strategy and operational plans.Highlight opportunities & risks and deliver timely, accurate, and granular reporting and commentary on performance, linking business drivers to actual spend and forecast.Proactively drive efficiencies including seeking cross-functional process solutions.Explore the needs of internal customers and suppliers, utilizing this information to improve business results showing significant commercial and business acumen.Post-deal management on agreements in your area of accountability; ability to analyze and interpret financial statements, understand complex company valuations, and contribute to deal-related commercial analysis.Prepare all presentations for key business and finance review meetings.Work closely with Project / Capacity Managers to model and plan for volatile cost and resource demands.

Essential Skills/Experience:

Strong finance business partnering experience of +3 yearsUniversity degree in Finance, Economics related.Exceptional communication and presentation skills, both oral & written.Excellent interpersonal skills.Ability to influence horizontally and vertically in the organization.Demonstrable knowledge of global and corporate business contextExperience of using financial systems to support business decision making (budgeting, forecasting & modelling)Managing complex finance deliverables in tight deadlines and prioritizing workloadSelf-starter, dynamic, curious, and fast-paced personality.Qualified finance professional or MBA (CIMA, ACCA or equivalent)Ability to challenge status quoInnovative digital technology experience and curiosity

Desirable Skills/Experience:

Experience of working in a pharmaceutical organization / understanding pharmaceutical business, environment, and dynamics
