Job Description

Role Purpose:

The Senior Finance Manager based in Los Angeles is part of the Global Close & Consolidation team. This position has a highly visible role within NBCU’s Controllership Group and requires interaction and relationship management with a number of high impact stakeholders as well as the oversight of a Finance Analyst based in Los Angeles.

This position will be responsible for managing all close and consolidation aspects of the close cycles for various NBCU Business Units (Theatrical, Home Entertainment, Channels, Television Production etc). Tasks relate, but are not limited to, managing the company’s FX remeasurement and translation processes, partnering closely with business units to resolve FX issues and lead business unit training sessions, managing projects related to intracompany and FX, assisting the wider team in London and Madrid and overseeing the responsibilities of a Finance Analyst and providing coaching.

The role has a solid reporting line to the Director, Corporate Close & Consolidation based in London.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the intracompany, FX, month end checks, and Comcast reporting processes as well as projects.

Manage the company’s FX remeasurement and translation processesPartner with business units to resolve FX issues and questions; lead business unit trainingOversee the intracompany process (including master data and reconciliation)Manage the data submission and reconciliation process with ComcastPartner with the business and broader finance community to provide financial expertise on projectsParticipate in discussions related to functional design, system controls, and requirements from a finance/controllership perspectiveHelp build a strong Close and Consolidation team that strives for high standards of performance and service delivery to the various Business Units. Develop and leverage key relationships with NBCU Controllership community (Controllers, Corporate Teams in NY and LA), demonstrating a high level of cultural consciousness. Collaboration and flexibility are a critical part of the role.Provide ad-hoc reporting and analysis (including for non-finance departments)Assist immediate team in LA and London as needed (e.g., close and consolidation procedures, ad hoc projects, etc.Oversee the tasks performed by Senior Finance AnalystIntracompany AP / AR eliminationValidations / checks run to ensure transactions are properly recorded in the ledgerDerivative accounting ensuring compliance with ASC 815/820Performing reconciliations between NBCU and Comcast ledgersManage the relationship with Accenture and ensure all outsourced accounting activities are performed as agreedAny other responsibilities as required

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

Advanced degree in finance or accounting (preferred ACA, ACCA, CIMA, US CPA qualified)5+ years of professional working experience in finance and/or accounting within a large multinational organization. Public accounting experience preferred.Sound technical accounting experience, including comprehensive understanding of US GAAP, UK GAAP, IFRS etc.Excellent judgment and problem-solving skills to quickly resolve unique, complex and challenging issues and concerns independently, being effective and decisiveAbility to work independently as well as part of a teamDemonstrates ownership of responsibilities and dedication to qualityProficient user of financial accounting systems and highly competent in Excel. Ideally SAP experience / SAP Analysis for Microsoft Office Excel (AOE) knowledgeDemonstrate solid influential and communication skills across different disciplines and cultures. Ability to identify and escalate issues appropriately. Possess high level of personal and professional integrityAbility to work in a fast, dynamic environment and manage competing priorities and challenging stakeholdersExperience of managing direct reportsFlexible and ability to take on new challenges as they arise

Desired Characteristics:

Experience in working with outsourced finance partners would be a plus.

HYBRID: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.

This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.
