This role serves as the Senior Finance lead for NA Amazon Fresh Store Operations within WWGS. The Senior Finance Manager (SFM) owns business partnership, financial reporting and controllership for Under the Roof Operations of our growing portfolio over 60+ NA Amazon Fresh Stores. The SFM will be a strategic thought partner for the VP of Fresh Store Operations and their Leadership Team as we look to profitably grow and operate Fresh Stores.
The SFM will play a central role in guiding the business by providing decision support on investment plans, and planning and analysis support for key cost lines in the Fresh Stores P&L. The SFM will build and leverage the tools, infrastructure, and mechanisms necessary to manage daily performance and cost structure of our Fresh Stores. The leader will be responsible for developing and driving a robust cost savings pipeline to enable the business to achieve its short and long-term profitability goals. This role has high visibility and influence with Director and VP partners across Retail and Operations.
This role leads a team of 7 finance professionals, responsible for controllership, analysis, planning and reporting. The SFM will be a proven leader, with demonstrated success hiring and developing best in class talent, and cultivating a positive overall team culture. The SFM and their team will partner with business and finance stakeholders to provide insightful analysis, timely guidance, and financial leadership across a broad business scope.
Key job responsibilities
This role has direct responsibility for the Under the Roof Variable and Fixed cost lines in the Fresh Stores P&L, including labor costs, 3P services, and store materials. The successful candidate will have high operations acumen, be able to connect the dots between business inputs/insights and financials, and understand the impact of business decisions across the P&L. The leader will be able to unify cross-functional teams on an end-to-end strategy, and hold leaders accountable to deliver against ambitious goals. The SFM will collaborate with Retail and Operations business and finance partners on full P&L business decisions, including store expansion and store model optimization. This is a high judgment role with the need to invent and lead strategic projects, and to be able to see beyond where the business is constrained today.
Specific responsibilities include:
• Own the planning, reporting, and analysis of store cost lines of the Fresh P&L. Partner closely with Stores leadership to deliver on short- and long-term cost glidepath for the business. Use data to identify disruptive ideas and provide advice to business leaders.
• Serve as a trusted partner to the Store Operations senior leadership team. As part of this, show an ability to take difficult decisions and disagree/commit with other leaders and stakeholders across the business.
• Understand deeply the operational and financial input drivers that lead to successful store operations. Provide day to day guidance to business leaders to deliver against our annual operating plan.
• Develop and implement short- and long-term cost reduction glidepaths that deliver against our cost structure goals.
• Interact with leaders at all levels of a matrixed organization, and have a comfort with details and complex data, can dive deep, and communicate implications and solutions.
• Be resilient and adaptable through challenging situations, where the business is still in test and learn phase. Balance risk taking with frugality to drive profitable growth.
• Have a proven track record of high judgment, sound decision making, ownership of complex problems and an ability to deliver results in multiple areas concurrently.
• Leadership experience of hiring and developing world-class teams, building a positive and supportive team culture.

Basic Qualifications
- 12+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
- 3+ years of performing financial and ad hoc analysis using data reporting tools experience
- 10+ years of positions that require analysis and reporting financial results experience
- 8+ years of Accounts Receivable or Account Payable experience
- 8+ years of applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses experience
- 8+ years of building financial and operational reports/data sets that inform business decision-making experience
- 8+ years of creating process improvements with automation and analysis experience
- 7+ years of directly managing and leading a team of 10+ members experience
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or related field
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of hiring, leading and developing teams experience
- 8+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience
- 8+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience
- 8+ years of mentoring junior finance and/or business team members experience
- 5+ years of working with senior staff (e.g. c-suite) experience
- MBA, or CPA

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $137,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $227,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
