Senior Finance Manager, R & D

Location: Palo Alto, CA - preferred location (Hybrid 3 days per week)

The ideal candidate is a Finance manager who has experience supporting R&D, with a positive attitude, embraces challenges, is flexible with change. This person exhibits strong judgement, possesses initiative and professionalism, and thrives in an innovative and fast-paced environment.

What you will do:

Establish a Business Partner relationship with our Chief Product Officer and other key R & D leaders and the functions in their organization (Engineering, Product Management, DevOps and General Managers)

Build thoughtful resource allocation analyses to drive better investment decisions and tradeoffs, including Product Line P&Ls and ROI.

Forecast and report on cloud spend and capitalization of software development

Serve as the single Finance owner of these organizations, establishing themselves as the “go to” person

Partner with the business to develop quarterly forecasts and annual budgets.

Perform month end close functions, including variance reporting and accounting postings review.

Manage the headcount of the R&D organization, including tracking headcount and the compensation budget for their teams.

Identify and implement ideas that will improve efficiency in the Finance team.

Work on Ad hoc projects, as needed.

What you will need:   

6 – 8 years of FP&A work experience, with a strong record of career progression

Experience as the Finance manager supporting Engineering, Product Management, DevOps and General Managers at a SaaS enterprise software company is required

Prior success with resource allocation and analyses to drive better investment decisions and tradeoffs, including Product Line P&Ls and ROI.

Superior Excel skills

Superb analytical and problem-solving skills

Experience in Pigment or other Financial Planning software, and NetSuite or other ERP software experience is a plus

Experience and highly capable of working independently

Innate ability to build relationships with and advise business partners, managers, and colleagues

Strong communication and presentation skills

An energetic person, with a can do attitude

Self-starter who identifies what needs to be done, or should be done, and then does it

Ability to apply knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

BA/BS degree with coursework in finance, accounting

For Palo Alto CA, based roles, the Base Pay Range is $150,000/yr - $180,000/yr. Your actual base salary will be determined by factors such as relevant experience, geographic location, and internal equity. In addition to base salary, variable compensation and equity may also be included.
