Senior Finance Specialist, Revenue and Cost of Sales
About the Role: Grade Level (for internal use): 10 The Role: Senior Finance Specialist, Revenue and Cost of Sales Senior Finance Specialist will support the Market Intelligence ACV, Revenue & COS Finance team – Revenue and Cost of Sales workstream. The new Senior Finance Specialist will manage all aspects of the revenue and cost of sales reporting and analysis including providing support for day-to-day management of financial operations involving revenue and cost of sales, as well as assisting with special projects related to revenue, cost of sales and annualized contract value (“ACV”) reporting. The Team: This position will work alongside the Finance Manager and Finance Director to ensure all monthly financial reporting and analyses are delivered timely and accurately to facilitate decision making by management. The role offers the opportunity to gain a centralized view of S&P Global Market Intelligence ACV, Revenue and Cost of Sales with responsibilities focusing on financial reporting and analysis. There is a track record of advancement within the ACV, Revenue and COS Finance team and the broader S&P Global Finance organization. Responsibilities and Impact: Assume primary preparer responsibility for recording and analysing S&P Global Market Intelligence cost of sales and revenue. Assist with monthly accounting close and financial reporting process. Prepare accruals and journal entries as needed to accurately record cost of sales and revenue. Assist with monthly P&L reporting and analysis. Analyse historical data for trends and unusual variances, comparing results to estimate and budget. Support overall business unit reporting requirements. Develop knowledge and understanding of the financial systems that are critical to the reporting process. Respond to requests related to internal/external audits and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance. Prepare analysis for ad hoc requests and special projects and provide direct support to the Finance Director and senior finance leadership on an as-needed basis. What We’re Looking For: Basic Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field. CPA/MBA strongly preferred but not required. 3-5 years’ work experience in public accounting, private accounting, or finance department. Strong knowledge of US GAAP and revenue recognition guidance is required. Strong knowledge of large data manipulation skills. Strong skills in MS Excel (pivot tables, XLOOKUP, IF functions, etc.) and PowerPoint. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral. Additional Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Oracle ERP (Fusion) and EPM (Smart View), Salesforce CRM, Salesforce CPQ, Tableau and/or Power BI, and Alteryx is preferred. Knowledge of SQL and basic data warehouse experience is preferred, but not required. Possess strong problem-solving skills and the ability to develop and implement innovative solutions for resolving operational and financial problems. Demonstrate investigative research and analytical capabilities necessary to leadership team with accurate and insightful interpretation of financial information. Ability to work independently and as a fully contributing member of a team.
