Senior Financial Accountant
Overview The Senior Financial Accountant is a member of the EMEA Finance team. The Senior Financial Accountant is an integral part of the Europe Finance team and serves as a critical business partner to the organization in order to understand processes, identify completeness and correctness of EMEA financial statements. The role is responsible for accurate and timely recording of business activities in the assigned General Ledger areas for Foot Locker EMEA (in accordance with company guidelines and procedures) while taking initiative, influencing and advising other departments on accounting matters. Qualified candidates must understand completeness and correctness of Europe Balance and P&L. The role is the go-to for any accounting related questions within FLE and is actively involved in developments within the GL responsibility that have a financial impact. In addition, the role requires certain FP&A responsibilities around month end close including but not limited to forecasting and variance analysis. You will help identify process and productivity improvement projects both within the business and finance verticals and drive these projects to completion. Responsibilities Oversee the month-end close process and monitor the financial close. Partner effectively with various internal stakeholders from FP&A teams through to department budget holders (finance and non-finance) to ensure financial records are accurate and completed in a timely manner. Review monthly balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis through Blackline, and approve the ones prepared by the direct report. Provide variance analysis to explain differences between actual financial performance and projections Support in monthly reporting & presentations to senior management Support the budgeting and forecasting processes Understand the problem identification and problem-solving process and be able to follow through to get the result needed. Participate in US GAAP external audit process between various departments and liaise with Internal Control on SOX compliance for GL area Participate in performance and departmental improvement projects. Develop expenses analyses, reports, and presentations; present to key stakeholders as required Might be required to perform additional Reporting or FP&A duties as assigned by Snr Manager. Qualifications (HBO) Bachelor or Master of Accounting, Business Administration or Business Economy - Finance Focus Minimum 4 years relevant work experience Knowledge/exposure to FP&A (business controls) preferred Fluent in English (verbal & written) Advanced Microsoft Excel and data analytical/manipulation skills People Soft and BlackLine experience is a plus Enthusiastic and eager to learn with a practical (hands-on) mentality. Able to work independently but is not afraid to ask questions/guidance.
