Senior Financial Analyst, AWS EMEA Accounting
Description Amazon Web Services (“AWS”) is a key part of the Amazon group and is a high-growth, fast-moving business, where new and diverse opportunities arise every day. The role is a Senior Financial Analyst supporting local statutory compliance and US GAAP reporting. This individual will be an experienced accounting professional, who thrives in a challenging workplace environment and will take ownership of monthly, quarterly and annual close processes for both group and statutory reporting purposes. In addition to the accounting and reporting responsibilities, the individual will drive projects and develop best practice in processes and controllership, with an emphasis on utilizing new technology and developing subject matter expertise. Key job responsibilities Responsibilities include but are not limited to: - Preparation of high quality financial statements across a range of accounting frameworks; - Responsible for month end close activities including reviews, balance sheet reconciliations and analytics. - Preparation of statutory trial balances including identification and posting of local GAAP adjustments; - Supporting external audit process; - Demonstrating strong technical accounting acumen to be able to conclude on accounting treatment for complex business related transactions; - Business partnering with other Amazon teams, including Treasury, Tax, Public Relations, Transfer Pricing and Corporate Legal; - Collaborating with global Accounting teams to identify opportunities for enhanced standardization - Being a strong team player, who can operate globally, cross-functionally and at all levels of the organization, taking ownership and demonstrating self-initiative. A day in the life Finance and Global Business Services (https://amazon.jobs/en/business\_categories/finance) About the team Amazon Affinity Groups (https://www.aboutamazon.com/affinity-groups) Basic Qualifications - Experience with accounting and financial reporting, preferably gained within a Big Four firm and / or a multinational organization - Certified accountant qualification (ACA, CPA, ACCA or equivalent) - Proficient Microsoft Excel user Preferred Qualifications - Knowledge of IFRS or other accounting frameworks; - Solid organizational skills along with an aptitude for information technology - Advanced Microsoft Excel skills - Experience managing multiple projects with competing schedules - Excellent communication and organization skills, including the ability to anticipate, identify and communicate risks to leadership - Passion to continuously enhance processes and reduce manual efforts through automation or optimization initiatives.
