Join Team Amex and let's lead the way together. **How will you make an impact in this role?** Reporting to the Director - Controller, this role will support finance related activities such as financial accounting, internal reporting, and external statutory and regulatory reporting for American Express Innovations Lab (AEIL) entity. This role will also provide financial decision support to the Decision Science Centre of Excellence by delivering data-driven insights, analysis, and reporting to senior leaders and other stakeholders. **The successful candidate will have the following key responsibilities:** + Support financial activities of the entity including preparation of financial statements. + Oversee the month end and quarter close process and ensure the accuracy, completeness, and appropriate disclosures of financial information under both IFRS and US GAAP. + Ensure all finance related statutory and regulatory filings are made within the required deadlines and legal entity finance operating guidelines are adhered to. + Participate in Annual Plan/Monthly forecasting cycles providing relevant financial analytics and commentary to business partners to ensure achievement of financial targets. + Maintain a strong control environment and ensure the operating efficiency of internal controls. Collaborate with auditors, internal risk committees, and other partners to answer any financial inquires and proactively provide updates. + Provide support for various strategic initiatives and Perform ad-hoc analytics as required. + Identify and implement opportunities for finance process improvement and ensure defined controls are operating as expected and identify any gaps in controls **Preferred Qualifications** + Degree holder in Accounting, Finance or related discipline with Finance qualification. + Experience in financial accounting & reporting, internal controls or financial planning & analysis functions, ideally with external audit experience. + Proficient in Microsoft suite required; Proficient in TM1 and Oracle preferred. + Understanding of P&Ls, financial metrics, cost drivers, forecast methodologies, and cost allocation/expense recovery concepts. + Strong financial, analytical, and problem-solving skills and able to synthesize complex data with the ability to draw key conclusions. + Excellent communication skills: ability to distill financial data into clear and concise insights and articulate these to senior leaders. + Ability to prioritize and manage competing priorities effectively and drive results while meeting critical deadlines. + Self-starter with a high degree of intellectual curiosity. + Strong interpersonal skills with the capacity to connect and influence across various levels of the organization. + Ability to manage competing priorities with eye for details. **Qualifications** We back our colleagues and their loved ones with benefits and programs that support their holistic well-being.
