**Senior Financial Analyst** Location **Madison** Job Category **Accounting/Finance** Apply Now (https://phf.tbe.taleo.net/phf01/ats/careers/v2/applyRequisition?org=MGE&cws=38&rid=1928) **POSITION PURPOSE** We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Senior Financial Analyst with a focus in financial planning and analysis to join our accounting and finance team at Madison Gas and Electric Company (MGE). As a Senior Financial Analyst, you will be responsible for developing and managing various financial forecasts supporting key finance functions, including treasury and cash planning, regulatory filings, and strategic planning. In addition, you will be responsible for analyzing financial statements and model (UI Planner) output to provide recommendations to senior management on financial planning and decision-making. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and play a key role in optimizing financial performance. **DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** + Develops, manages, and administers various monthly, quarterly, and annual financial forecasts scenarios within MGE's financial planning software (UI Planner) to support key finance functions within the company (Budgeting, Treasury, Regulatory, and Investor Relations). + Performs comprehensive financial analysis of company financial statements to assist with development of financial projections and variance explanations. + Facilitates periodic strategic financial forecasts to support long-term financial planning processes and analysis. + Conducts ad hoc scenario analyses to evaluate financial impacts of various financial decisions and outcomes. + Collaborates with multiple business function leads and personnel to gather relevant financial data to support financial forecasting assumptions, inputs, and projections. + Prepares accurate financial reports and reconciliations, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements highlighting the key findings and trends. + Assists with various regulatory filings and related data requests supported from financial forecast information. + Assists in the development and implementation of financial policies, procedures, and internal controls. + Stays updated with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes related to budgeting and financial management. + Performs analysis on key financial statement accounts. + Assists with system administration and maintenance tasks associated with the UI Planner financial model and data integration tasks with the financial model. **QUALIFICATIONS** **Education and Experience** + Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Any certifications are a plus. + Five plus years' experience as a Financial Analyst or similar role in the utility industry is highly preferred. **Knowledge and Skills** Ability to work well as part of a team and possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities: + Strong proficiency in accounting, financial analysis, and forecasting. + Advanced knowledge of financial modeling software (UI Planner) and MS Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.). + Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail. + Ability to communicate complex financial information effectively. **ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION** MGE is a community energy company dedicated to planning and providing reliable energy that balances the needs and values of those we serve.
