Reporting to the Senior Manager, the Senior Financial Analyst is a leader, consultant and analyst who helps set the  financial tone and is centered on providing insightful financial direction to the organization. 

 

Among other areas, the Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for maintaining relationships throughout the organization, assisting Management in all financial matters, maintaining systems and processes associated with the preparation of budgets and forecasts, leading the analysis of actual results and variances to budgets and forecasts, and distribution of information to internal and external stakeholders. 

 

 

What will you do?

Meet with Vice President of Finance and Corporate Services monthly to review performance by operating area and department (provide insight)Ensure Manager has the opportunity to review and approve materials for distributionMeet with Operations Management (one-on-one) to understand and set expectationsAct as a resource and as the primary contact for Executive Team members on financial mattersMeet with key stakeholders in Operations Management at least once a monthDistribute monthly/quarterly financial reports including explanations for significant variancesMeet with Operations Management monthly to discuss monthly/quarterly financial reports including explanations for significant variancesMeet with Executive Team members monthly to discuss monthly/quarterly financial reports including explanations for significant variances (for their areas)Work with project leads to determine financial impact of planned or possible initiativesEscalate concerns in a timely manner to senior ManagerWork closely with Senior Manager on the BudgetCompile and prepare annual budget and quarterly forecastDevelop and maintain budgeting and financial analysis softwareWork with IT to develop and maintain tools and processes necessary to meet planning and reporting requirementsPrepare confidential staffing models for budget and forecastPrepare monthly/quarterly financial reports including explanations for significant variancesPrepare quarterly financial statements for the Board and Board Finance CommitteeCompletes annual or more frequent loading of case costing dataProvides financial models and support for Labour Relations during collective bargaining and regular planning and reporting activitiesAssists in the preparation of the annual financial statements and notes to financial statementsProvide reports and reconciliations as required for annual auditPrepare annual financial statements to be audited and provided to the MOHLTCProvide analyses to support monthly accounting processesSupport Senior Manager with quarterly external reporting including the MIS Trial Balance SubmissionAssists Manager in signs-off on internal controls for AccountingAssists Manager in signs-off on internal controls for ReportingMonitors internal controls.  Identifies any deficiencies and helps develop mitigation strategiesAssists in the creation of new policies and helps update existing policies as neededContributes to ongoing improvement initiatives in Finance and throughout the organizationProvide financial information to internal and external parties on ad hoc basisEnsures compliance with all Ontario Health atHome and Ministry reporting requirements including budget and forecast submissions, quarterly SRI and activity reports and MIS trial balance submissionsOther duties as assignedEmbody Ontario Health atHome mission, vision and values and apply quadruple aim (enhancing patient experience, enhancing provider/staff experience, improving value and improving populations health) to support continuous quality improvement in daily workExemplify, embrace and intentionally promote an inclusive work environment where all are meant to feel they belongContinually demonstrate a commitment to create a positive culture of equity, inclusion, diversity and anti-racism

 

What must you have?

 

Educational QualificationsBA in Business, Commerce or Finance (or related discipline).Chartered Professional Accountant designation/enrollment preferred.

 

Experience3 to 5 years of experience in accounting, reporting and planning in a medium or large sized organization.Experience using MS Great Plains Dynamics Information SystemExperience with a large, multi-dimensional accounting system

 

Knowledge and Skills

Knowledge of Ontario Healthcare Reporting Standards (OHRS), ideally in a Ontario Health atHome setting Knowledge of database structures and principlesKnowledge of Quadrant workforce, CHRISProficiency in MS Excel, SQL server, SharePointKnowledge of Ontario Health atHome services and processesKnowledge of budgeting and analytical processes

 

Communication and Interpersonal SkillsAbility to present and explain financial data in a clear concise manner in order to provide financial analyses to internal and external stakeholders.Effectively represents the organization in discussions with the Board and Board Finance Committee.Works closely with employees at all levels of the organization to recommend improvements to internal finance controls.Strong collaboration skills to participate on projects and committees with colleagues.Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with the management team to develop financial submissions and identify areas of concern.

 

Position location and travel:

Hybrid work model, subject to change 

 

Regular travel within the geographical region of Ontario Health atHome Central East may be required. A valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a vehicle are necessary.
