Senior Financial Analyst - Controllership
Job Description

Hybrid This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Detroit Renaissance Center, Detroit MI three times per week, at minimum [or other frequency dictated by the business]

General Motors is seeking a creative thinker who will understand complex business problems and determine system solutions. Must have an accounting or finance background with the ability to configure Hyperion Financial Management (HFM), Financial Data Management Enterprise Edition (FDMEE) functionality, OneStream and/or Workiva WDesk and WData applications and to provision new capabilities. This includes partnering with IT in the maintenance of HFM and FDMEE applications and integrating new technologies.  Role also requires broad understanding of financial reporting requirements. Must work with high level of independent judgment and initiative, while being able to rapidly take on and assimilate work from existing team members when required.

Maintain the Workiva WData application connection to HFM and design and test transition of that connection to OneStream.

Provide subject matter expertise on complex functionality within Workiva WData

Partner with Corporate Accounting team and Investor Relations to execute changes in Workiva WData during preparation of quarterly financial statements.

Partner with business teams to understand requirements of new business initiatives.  Design and partner with IT to implement system solutions based on requirements. 

Provide process and system support for worldwide users during close process, inclusive of evening and weekend hours when required.

Develop and present data solutions to other members of the organization.

Solve problems and develop new/enhanced control procedures.  Streamline existing business processes.

Support the OneStream implementation team with HFM knowledge and assist with project tasks. 

Understand the Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) application, including metadata (inclusive of chart of accounts, entity/organization structures, custom dimensions, and scenarios), member lists, reports, logic.

Interpret and design HFM system rules (including calculation, translation, consolidation, and elimination custom rules).

Test all aspects of system logic, metadata outline.

Create reports and forms in HFM and in Excel via Smart View.

Assist with security administration for Hyperion applications.

Understand and interpret SAP source data and how it is presented in HFM. 

Design and configure interface for S4/HANA SAP source system to HFM. 

Prioritize current business initiatives and close support activities.  Communicate reasonable and attainable deadlines. 

Partner with IT team on technical solutions and infrastructure support.

Understand data structure, data interfaces and how data flows from source systems to the consolidation system and to the FP&A systems.

Develop standardized processes for application support.  Document work steps necessary to achieve consistent results. 

Assist with the coordination of SOX documentation and perform monitoring controls:

Update existing SOX documentation as needed.

Perform SOX required user access and IT control reviews and maintain evidence as required.

Collect and respond to information requests from various internal and external audit teams.

Train HFM and Workiva users on application functionality and reporting capability.

Additional Job Description

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree with a major in accounting, business administration, information systems, or equivalent experience.

5 years of Accounting or Financial experience

Hyperion Financial Management (HFM), Financial Data Quality Management (FDM), Workiva, OneStream, SAP or related

Ability to learn Workiva WData Chains

Ability to validate, analyze, and identify anomalies for a population of data.

Complex problem solving and analytical abilities.

Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated commitment to teamwork and partnerships.

Highly proficient Personal Computer skills and technology driven.

Ability to prioritize assignments/projects and multi-task within time constraints.

Willing to take on additional responsibilities, attend training, and learn new technical skills.

Strong oral and written communications skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with SAP, Sharepoint, KNIME, Power BI, and/or other BI tools preferred

Advanced Excel skills including vlookups, pivot tables, if / then statements, concatenation, nested functions and formulas.

Ability to interpret FDMEE custom scripts and HFM rules (VB Script)

Experience with Consolidation
