An exciting and rare opportunity has become available for an experienced financial line claims professional to join our Specialist Financial Lines Advocacy Claims team, based in Sydney. You will be responsible for providing comprehensive specialist end to end support to our valued clients experiencing complex, high quantum, high profile and major loss financial lines claims.
This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.
We will count on you to:
Provide detailed threshold coverage analysis and policy guidance advice, particularly where there may be issues of policy construction, characterisation, interpretation, coverage and or the operation of exclusions.Conduct immediate reviews and prepare tailored claim strategies for urgent, media sensitive and or complex litigated matters requiring immediate action on high risk large loss claims.Attend broker/client preliminary post loss meetings to provide detailed rationale input, guidance and reassurance regarding the interplay of cover available in respect of the loss and recommendations regarding claim strategy and likely outcomes.Proactively engage with multi-participant tower insurer markets, legal counsel (client and coverage counsel) and clients to provide a detailed and point in time strategy and response for actively litigated matters to mitigate loss, set expectations and facilitate rapid coordination and flow of information between all parties involved in a claim.Maximise client coverage outcomes by conducting a detailed and inclusive analysis of all client coverages, dual insurance, other insurance, case law and external covers which would apply to the loss, providing comprehensive strategic guidance and where needed, preparing claim submissions to facilitate enhanced indemnity outcomes.Assist and mentor internal financial lines claims operations staff to examine legal/coverage complexities, indemnity denials, reservation of rights and or operation of exclusions.Provide tailored guidance on providing information and updates to insurers including, drafting detailed correspondence and submissions.Attend site inspections, mediations, and on-site meetings where appropriate. Conduct expert conclaves, review quantum and causation evidence and provide detailed submissions in relation to causation and cover.Provide guidance on information requests from insurers, including advising on alternative pathways and likely trajectory/impact of alternative options.Conduct escalation meetings with domestic and overseas participant carrier markets, coverage counsel and defence counsel.
What you need to have:
Legal Degree (5+ years PQE desirable), experience working in private practice.Technical experience – able to provide detailed guidance, advice and management to advanced complexity and major loss financial lines insurance claims.Ability to autonomously manage a range of large complex matters, retaining quality and quantity and customer service.Retain and develop expert knowledge within financial lines claims.
