Position Title: Financial Lines Underwriter

Key Objective
• This position will principally be responsible for the underwriting, administration and operation of the Financial Lines business portfolio.
• In addition to the existing renewal business, a focus on the new business development is also expected.
• This position will provide underwriting support to the BKK Financial Lines team to enable the provision of timely and professional service to producers/Insured(s).
Major Duties and Responsibilities
• Commence underwriting training in all ACE Financial Lines products
• Other than our products, this position is also expected to be familiar with our competitors’ product in order to know our market;
• Risk analysis and to determine the acceptability of risks according to established underwriting standards;
• Financial analysis;
• Maintain underwriting integrity;
• Provides assistance, consultation and advice on underwriting matters to Underwriting Manager;
• Marketing: client meeting, visit our producers and promotes ACE coverage, products and services;
• Maintain a high standard of knowledge by membership of and attendance at relevant professional associations, courses and seminars;
• Develop and maintain a continuous programme of self improvement in conjunction with relevant management;
• Coordinates activities with higher level underwriting staff and with support staff to assure valid and timely response to producers of quotations and production of policies, endorsements, certificates, renewal notices, and other administrative requirements. Assists support staff in production of such where required. Check and reconcile information as required
• Perform special projects and other related duties as assigned;
• Team playing and support is required;

Reporting Relationships
Reports to: BKK Financial Lines Manager and provide underwriting support to Underwriter Manager if necessary.

Skills
• Knowledge of Windows based applications;
• Proven ability for accuracy and attention to detail;
• Spreadsheet (excel / Lotus 123) and Database (Microsoft Access) skills would be an advantage;
• The position requires the ability to develop strong communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills;

Experience
• Finance, Accounting or Legal working experience
 

Qualifications
• Self-Motivation, self-discipline, team-player.
• Knowledge of Windows based applications.
• Proven ability for accuracy and attention to detail.
• Willingness to attain Insurance or other relevant qualifications.
• Tertiary level qualifications in accounting, finance, legal or related field;
• Outgoing and marketing oriented as well.
• Fluent in English both verbal and written.
