About this opportunity: 

Reporting to the Manager, Project Controls and Cloud Business Office, the Senior FinOps Cloud Advisor will be responsible for effective day-to-day cloud governance, financial management & reporting for the organization.   

Our ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of cloud cost governance principles and key concepts of financial processes such as budgeting, financial modeling, ROI development and multi-year financial forecasting. What you’ll do:  

Designs, implements, leads, and supports the financial operating model for cloud

Stewards and maintains the governance of cloud FinOps as well as processes, policies, and standards 

Monitors and analyzes consumption data within cloud tools to identify cloud spend and enables cost optimization aligned to best practices, providing technical and non-technical insights

Identifies potential cloud-related risks related to IT spend and provides risk-mitigation guidance to teams responsible for deploying and handling cloud resources

Reviews new cloud account requests, maps accounts to business units and cost centers, and provides cloud resource tagging standards

Creates metrics for cloud performance benchmarking and responsible for financial forecasts, planning and reporting

Who you are: 

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements: 

Legally authorized to work in Canada

8+ years related experience in the IT industry in a technology role and/or experience. within a finance related role

Post-secondary education in IT, Finance or a related field

Understanding of optimization opportunities through the use of on-premise entitlements in cloud (e.g., Azure Hybrid Benefit, Reserved Instances, Savings Plans)

Experience in Cloud forecast, Cloud spend, allocating budgets and alerts

Familiarity with cloud cost management and reporting platforms such as Azure Cost Management, Azure Advisor, AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Trusted Advisor, etc

Experience effectively interacting and communicating with stakeholders

Experience with PowerBI and other FinOps tools to build dashboards and reports
