Senior Financial Reporting Analyst

The Senior Financial Reporting Analyst will be responsible for playing a lead role in four key areas: period end financial reporting, regulatory compliance and audit, treasury activities, and finance transformation projects.

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following activities:

Financial Reporting (monthly & quarterly Close) activities:

Preparation and accurately recording of monthly journal entries Provide support to financial reporting to upload journal entries at quarter ends. Prepare Income Statement variance analysis on Stat basis. Gather accounting and actuarial information related to Termlife and distribute entries to Chubb. Forward the required monthly reports to the offshore team to complete bank reconciliations.  Initiate US dollar purchases based on the need of the Branch.

Financial Process Improvement; ongoing:

Collaborate with business partners (CSSC, Genpact, RBC, Chubb Treasury, Chubb AP, Financial Reporting) to investigate/resolve issues in a timely manner. Monitor account reconciliations for aged items. Assist with investigation and resolution.

Regulatory reporting responsibilities include:

Support IFRS 17 reporting by completing the DSL upload and reconcile DSL cashflows to the Peoplesoft. Check OSFI quarterly LIFEPRO and LIMAT files after completion for errors and accuracy. Complete the quarterly OSFI analysis for presentation to the senior management in excel and power point. Maintaining a list of unclaimed cheques/property based on the legislation of the specific province.

Internal audit and Control testing; ongoing:

Assist and provide documentation for Sox testing (Model Audit Rule) and internal audit. Partner with and provide audit support to internal and external auditors.

Treasury responsibilities include the following activities:

Download RBC and BMG bank consolidated statement summary and bank activities including returns and credit card deposits. Verify and process policyholder claims and Peoplesoft stop payments. Monitor and reconcile Peoplesoft cheques and claims cheques rejected in ARP and verify RBC paid items file upload in Peoplesoft.  Setup and verify bank information/approvals of wire transfer requests. Setup installment tax payments in RBC tax payment system.  Monitor RBC payee mismatch/exceptions from Chubb Treasury e-mail.

Finance transformation project involvement including: 

Act as a business partner and manage relationships with other departments and stakeholders on behalf of Finance transformation projects Take active role in product development/modernization of projects meetings 

The successful candidate will have accomplished and demonstrated the following:

3-5 or more years of related work experience along with an Accounting/Finance designation (CPA/MBA/CFA/other) Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.Proven self-starter with excellent time management skills who can prioritize multiples deliverables to meet timelines.Ability to thrive in a fast pace and changing environment (continues improvement to existing process)Strong attention to details, intellectually curious to understand drivers and root causes behind the numbers.Collaborative team player and ability to communicate well with all levels within the organizationKnowledge of accounting standards is an asset: US STAT, US GAAP and IFRSPrevious experience in insurance industry is an asset.
