The anticipated salary range for this role is between $80,000.00 and $125,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

Role Description

SMBC Nikko Securities America, Inc, a registered broker dealer, provides investment securities and other financial services to corporate and institutional clients, focusing on North America and Larin America. The Accounting team oversees financial reporting, regulatory reporting and management reporting functions. This position will be responsible for assisting with month end closing function, preparation of reconciliations and reports, and other daily accounting functions.

 

Reporting to the Director of Accounting, this position will be responsible for assisting with month end closing function, preparation of reconciliations and reports, and other daily accounting functions. This position will be closely working with accounting teams from other domestic and foreign affiliates, and will also regularly interact with other departments (Operations, Product Control, Accounts Payable, HR, etc.) within Nikko America.

Responsibilities Maintain the master check-list of month end close activities and ensure all activities are completed timely. Gather month end accrual information from other departments and affiliates, and also from review of purchase orders/invoices. Update prepaid and fixed assets schedules. Prepare month end close entries and GL account reconciliations based on master check-l Prepare month end reports such as business group expense report and affiliate trade activity report Prepare daily estimate net capital calculation for a subsidiary Review GL account coding of requisitions/invoices in Purchase Order system. Follow up with owners of requisition/invoice from other departments as needed to determine correct coding. Maintain Policy and Procedure documentation related to the functions under ownership Manage the requests/questions from Internal and External audit and, where applicable, other departments Qualifications and Skills 0-2 years experience working in the financial service industry  2+ years of financial reporting (broker dealer experience is a strong plus) BA/BS required Working knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) required  Good knowledge of broker dealer business and financial products Proficiency in MS Office Suite  Strong analytic and problem solving skills; high level of urgency and deadline driven; attention to detail, accuracy and accountability.  Strong communication and interpersonal skills; possesses diplomacy and displays confidence A team player who is collaborative yet able to work independently Knowledge of Oracle GL is a strong plus Additional Requirements
