A Week in the life of a Senior Financial Systems Analyst:

Provide financial management support for a branch, office, organization, or department.  Provide advice and technical assistance in the preparation of annual budgets.  Measure organizational performance; assess the effects of various programs and policies on the budget.  Examine budget estimates or proposals for completeness, accuracy, and conformance with established procedures, regulations, and organizational objectives.  Employ cost-benefit analysis to review financial requests, assess program tradeoffs, and explore alternative funding methods.  Examine past and current budgets and research economic and financial developments that affect the organization’s spending.  Develop guidelines and policies governing the formulation and maintenance of budgets. May conduct training sessions for company or government agency personnel regarding new budget procedures. Coordinate financial activities across various stakeholders.  Manage finances across multiple funding types. Track budgets, costs, and variances.  Produce executive summaries. Conduct financial reporting and analyses on financial issues and customer requirements. Develop and propose courses of actions (COAs) and recommendations for financial issues.  Interpret and apply financial management principles. Apply financial management processes, techniques, policies, regulations and organizational strategic goals.  Enter financial data into government approved systems for obligation and procurement (such as Navy Enterprise Resource Planning or Standard Procurement System, or any follow-on systems).
