Job Description

In our Cloud Governance team, we are seeking an experienced Senior FinOps Engineer to accelerate the interaction with engineering stakeholders. This role will drive FinOps maturity towards full cost attribution and unit metrics, focusing on automations, tool integrations, prototyping solutions, and developing metadata strategies. The candidate will play a crucial role in mapping our application stack to cost and optimizing cloud expenditure. While this role has a focus on FinOps, other data or cloud governance responsibilities will be part of the job, ensuring comprehensive management practices. Responsibilities

Collaborate with engineering stakeholders to improve FinOps maturity and implement cost-effective solutions.

Develop and apply automation frameworks to streamline financial operations and enhance efficiency.

Use cloud cost management tools to optimize cloud spending.

Promote FinOps practices to raise cost awareness and efficiency across the organization.

Create prototypes to test strategies for cost attribution and unit metrics.

Improve FinOps efficiencies by utilizing automations to reduce manual intervention and enhance real-time cost monitoring and management.

Map the application stack to cost, ensuring transparent and accurate cost allocation.

Develop and execute metadata strategies to enhance data quality and manage costs effectively.

Stay informed about the latest cloud technologies and cost optimization strategies.

Support the development of frameworks for comprehensive cost attribution and unit metrics.

Assist in improving the organization's financial health and efficiency through data-driven decisions.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

Several years of experience in a FinOps Engineer role or similar position, or as a Data Analyst or Software Engineer with exposure to FinOps and a desire to deepen their expertise.Strong technical skills in cloud technologies, including experience with AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.Excellent verbal and written communication abilities

Preferred Qualifications

Proficiency in using cloud cost management tools such as Cloudability or CloudHealth would be good.Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets and drive actionable insights.Experience in automation, tool integration, prototyping solutions, and metadata strategies.Proficient in Scripting, Terraform, and modern software development practices.Solid understanding of cost drivers and financial principles in a cloud environment.Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with various stakeholders across the organization.FinOps certifications or a willingness to obtain them.
