Senior First Line Risk Manager (Remote)
Overview This is a remote role that may be hired in several markets across the United States. This position is in the First Line Risk Management (FRM) Team supporting the business unit that is responsible for execution of the Allowance, Stress Testing, and Risk Ratings. This role will require direct and frequent interaction with the business unit and will serve as a key advisor on all risk-related matters, including RCSA development and maintenance, Issues Management, and Model Management. Prefer Large Financial Institution (LFI) experience gained through time in the Finance, Credit, and/or Model units, and/or the second and third-line functions supporting and overseeing them. Individual must have direct working knowledge of the processes, risks, and controls related to CECL, CCAR, Risk Ratings, and Models. Prior Consulting experience in Corporate Finance, Financial Reporting, and/or Risk Management is beneficial. As a risk advisor and liaison to Modeling and Analytics professionals supporting key Finance deliverables, the FRM is expected to be resourceful and able to work cross-functionally to improve processes and the risk and control environment. Additionally, they are responsible for ensuring the business unit is operating in alignment with enterprise guidance when executing on risk activities, including but not limited to core items like Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSA), Issues Management, Model Risk Management, TPRM, and Business Continuity Planning. Responsibilities Risk Advisory - Allowance, Capital, and/or Finance – Understanding of core end-to-end processes related to CECL, CCAR, Risk Ratings, and/or Model Development. Ability to advise on enhancement of the risk and control environment with an eye towards improving efficiency and an enhancing the risk profile. Deep understanding of dependencies and impacts across groups. Strong familiarity with CECL, SOX, and GAAP. Inventory Oversight & Management – Risks, Controls, Models, Vendors – Understand the Risk, Control, Model, and Vendor inventories associated with the business unit and consistently facilitate/advise on any concerns with the BU and/or other stakeholders. Effectively digest and communicate up concerns as needed to ensure timely understanding, review, and if needed, remediation. Model Risk – Development, Maintenance, Governance – Understand relevance, scope, and applicability of Models to key processes, including CECL, CCAR, and Risk Ratings. Identify and advise on management of Model risks, including through development and maintenance stages. Facilitate efficient management of any Model-related concerns and work with stakeholders to ensure timely and thorough resolution. Promote Proper Risk Culture – Drive proper risk awareness, ownership, and culture across the BU and the Enterprise. Educate on the risk frameworks, programs, and policies across the organization, including all associated expectations and requirements. Train the business unit as needed on recent, current, and/or future changes to the programs, explain what it means to them, and facilitate completion of any activities timely. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree and 8 years of experience in Financial Services, First Line Risk, Enterprise Risk or Operational Risk. OR High School Diploma or GED and 12 years of experience in Financial Services, First Line Risk, Enterprise Risk or Operational Risk. Preferred Education: Advanced Degree Preferred Area of Experience: Project Management or Internal/External Consulting Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of core risk management techniques and practices (RCSA Development, Issue Management, BCP) Experience at a Large Financial Institution (LFI) with knowledge of regulatory guidance and expectations In-depth knowledge of risk & internal control practices with a history of implementing/enhancing control suites Deep understanding of Finance, Accounting, Credit, and Models, and/or a combination of such at an LFI Self-starter and sound communicator with an ability to be creative and resourceful at a large organization Ability to work effectively with associates, senior management, and various forums, including committees Ability to understand and leverage data to identify concerns, relay the narrative, and offer solutions Project & Change Management experience a plus, especially cross-functional exposure to Data, IT, and/or Ops This job posting is expected to remain active for 45 days from the initial posting date listed above. If hired in North Carolina, the base pay for this position is generally between $106,304 and $163,000. Actual starting base pay will be determined based on skills, experience, location, and other non-discriminatory factors permitted by law. For some roles, total compensation may also include variable incentives, bonuses, benefits, and/or other awards as outlined in the offer of employment.
