Job Description:
The Senior Forward Deployment Engineer serves as the primary point of contact and trusted advisor for a portfolio of clients, ensuring their success with our data catalog software solutions. This role requires a unique blend of technical expertise, account management skills, and in-depth knowledge of data systems. The FDE Product Architect will leverage their deep understanding of data architectures, data management, and data cataloging to provide technical guidance, proactive support, and strategic solutions to clients.
What You’ll Do:
Technical Leadership:Serve as the subject matter expert on our data catalog software and its integration with client data systems.Provide technical guidance, troubleshooting, and issue resolution for clients.Develop and deliver technical training and workshops to clients.Collaborate with internal engineering and product teams to address client technical challenges and feedback.Account Management:Build and maintain strong relationships with key client stakeholders.Develop a deep understanding of client business objectives and data strategies.Proactively identify and address client needs and challenges.Manage client expectations and ensure a high level of client satisfaction.Drive adoption and utilization of our data catalog software within client organizations.Strategic Partnership:Develop and execute account plans to achieve client success and business growth.Identify and pursue upsell and cross-sell opportunities within client accounts.Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to drive new business and expand market reach.Advocate for client needs and feedback within the organization.You should have:
Technical Expertise:Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.5+ years of experience in data management, data warehousing, or data engineering.Deep understanding of data architectures, data modeling, and data integration.Hands-on experience with data catalog software or similar solutions.Strong knowledge of SQL and other data query languages.Solid understanding of API and system integration challenges.Account Management Skills:3+ years of experience in customer-facing roles, preferably in a technical account management or sales engineering capacity.Proven ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.Ability to manage multiple client accounts and prioritize tasks effectively.Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.Data Systems Knowledge:In-depth knowledge of various data systems, including relational databases, NoSQL databases, data lakes, and cloud data platforms.Familiarity with data governance, data quality, and data security best practices.Experience with data migration, data integration, and ETL processes.Additional Qualifications:Experience in the software or technology industry is a plus.Consulting experience is highly desirable.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Strong work ethic and a passion for customer success.Alation, Inc. is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer.
