Senior Genetic Analyst
Main Purpose
The Senior Genetic Analyst oversees seed testing operations within the genetic laboratory, providing expert guidance to the team. The analyst will be involved in managing complex testing procedures, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and driving continuous improvements in methodologies. Additionally, the role involves mentoring junior team members without formal authority, fostering collaboration, and ensuring technical excellence across the laboratory. The Senior Analyst will also prepare reports and communicate results to internal and external stakeholders
Key Tasks & Responsibilities
Technical Expertise:
Team Support:
Responsible for planning and distribution of workload in the lab .Guide and mentor junior analysts and technicians, providing hands-on training and support in laboratory techniques and procedures.Encourage continuous learning and skill development through workshops, training sessions, and regular feedback.Sample Management and Reporting:
Tracking of In-Progress samples and Pending results using the dashboardUtilize LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) software to manage workflows, record data, and ensure timely reporting of results.Update and revise the SOP`s according to the test performed Collaboration in an Agile Environment:Work closely with cross-functional teams, including research and development, regulatory affairs, and quality assurance, to ensure testing processes align with broader organizational goals.Actively participate in agile project teams, contributing technical insights and recommendations.Support and participate in continuous process improvement efforts, contributing to the development and validation of new methodologies and tests.Quality Assurance and Compliance:Ensure testing procedures comply with internal quality standards, industry regulations, and legal requirements, including working with regulated material.Conduct peer reviews of test/proficiency testing results and methods, ensuring the accuracy and consistency of laboratory output.Participate in one PSS- (One production system).Lead HSE efforts according ISO 45001 and Bayer safety standards focusing on legal compliance and identifying safety risks applying the HIRA methodology.Participate in compiling Risk assessments and Job safety analysis and complies to ESH standards.Adhere to safety protocols and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, recording of safety observations etc.Participate in 5WHY problem solving identifying corrective and preventative actions.Qualifications & Competencies
BSC Honors in Chemistry, Genetics , Biotechnology or related fields MSc in Chemistry will be an added advantage 2-5 Years of Experience in Analytical Chemistry / Genetic LaboratoryStrong molecular, Genetic, Biotechnology .Ability to trouble shoot results , perform validations and implements project .Advanced proficiency in UPLC techniques, molecular biology, and data interpretation.Technical knowledge and experience of LIMS Labware and Empower software Knowledge of SAPExperience in DNA and RNA extraction and related method and analysisKnowledge of genotyping and PCR techniquesProject Management Report writing and presentation skills Relationships and networkingOrganizational (Planning skills)Technical and Analytical skillsMentoring and Coaching Skills
