Summary:

At Tetra Tech, we offer a range of comprehensive training and development resources with the opportunity to work on various projects across diverse market sectors. We are seeking motivated and innovative individuals for our Geotechnical Engineering positions, working within 50 miles of one of our local offices.

Geotechnical Engineers will provide project investigation and engineering design services while working with junior and senior engineers and project managers. Typical tasks can include, hazard studies and mitigation, civil construction, soil and rock analyses, field instrumentation and monitoring, materials inspection, and more as assigned.

Your Role:

This position will have field and non-field related responsibilities. Field work and travel may include occasional nights and weekends. Assist Principal Engineers with engineering design development. Prepare concise and clear written documentation of project activities in the form of field logs and notes, technical memoranda, and section of technical reports. Preparation of data for input into technical reports, data tables, charts, and figures. Lead and conduct field tasks associated with environmental sampling, geotechnical drilling, construction oversight and coordination, and site reconnaissance. Collection of environmental samples, operation of field equipment, data entry and analysis, document review, environmental assessments, site inspections, etc. Provide leadership and mentoring to junior team members. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

BS in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or closely related field. Advanced degree preferred but not required. WA-State Licensed PE (Geotechnical emphasis).  10 years of relevant technical experience. Demonstrated ability to lead and perform field data collection and construction oversight. Understanding of environmental services including investigations, data collection and design, environmental assessments, and sampling methods. Familiarity with lab testing and construction materials testing. Ability to take thorough notes and preparation of data reports.  Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts and principles. Familiarity with MS Office Suite. Familiarity with database development and management, AutoCAD, Civil3D, ArcGIS, HEC programs, or GOLDSIM is desirable. OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER and MSHA certification preferred. Ability to traverse large terrain and lift, carry, push, and pull equipment weighing up to 50lbs.  Ability to travel and perform field work (50% or more of field work required). A Pre-employment drug screen in compliance with state regulations is required. Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.

 

Target salary range:  $80.00 / hour to $110.00 / hour.  Please note that Tetra Tech considers various factors in determining pay, including but not limited to: education, relevant and demonstrated work experience in the role, skills, geographic location, qualifications, certifications, and other competencies relevant to the needs of the business.
