Gannett Fleming TranSystems is seeking a Senior Project Geotechnical Engineer to join our Geotechnical, Dams & Hydraulics Team in Valley Forge, PA! This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our Valley Forge, PA office.

This is an excellent career opportunity for an experienced, motivated Senior Project Geotechnical Engineer who thrives in a collaborative team environment. In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

 

Developing and guiding the execution of subsurface explorations and laboratory testing programs, and participating in field exploration activities as needed.Preparing technical reports, documentation, geotechnical correspondence, design drawings, and construction specifications in alignment with scope requirements.Providing specialty geo-construction observation support during the construction phase of various projects as required.Determining client requirements and assisting with or developing suitable scopes of work, schedules, and budgets to achieve client objectives.Performing and directing routine and complex data analysis and engineering calculations, including retaining wall stability, slope stability, foundation support, lateral earth pressures, settlement, seepage, and liquefaction potential.Ensuring deliverables meet project scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirements.Reviewing contractor submittals, responding to requests for information, evaluating design change needs, and making appropriate geotechnical recommendations.Consulting with construction personnel regarding field conditions, sequencing, and scheduling of activities.Providing direction, supervision, and mentorship to junior-level staff.Communicating independently with clients when required.Working in multi-disciplinary teams and leading geotechnical tasks.Traveling on an as-needed basis to other Gannett Fleming offices, client locations, or project work sites, including overnight or out-of-town travel. Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering is requiredProfessional Engineer (P.E.) license  10-15 years of geotechnical experience with an emphasis in design and development of geotechnical deliverables including investigations, reports, drawings and specificationsExperience with Microsoft 365 applications is requiredExperience with common geotechnical software programs such as SLIDE, SLOPE/W, LPILE, APILE, GROUP, GRLWEAP, Settle3 and gINT Strong analytical, report writing and communication skillsMust be able to work outdoors in all seasons, when needed Must have valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree with a Geotechnical focus is strongly preferredField experience with construction observation for bridge projects, highway projects, deep foundations, and sinkhole and landslide remediation projectsExperience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStationExperience with OpenGround is strongly preferredFEM analysis experience and GIS experience

Employment Status: Full-Time 

Salary Range: $110,000 - $140,000

Salary dependent upon experience and geographic location
