JOB DESCRIPTION
The Senior Endoscopic Technologist supports all areas of the Endoscopy department, including travel
cases and advanced procedures, by managing equipment, assisting with specimen collection, and aiding
physicians and staff during procedures. Responsibilities include setting up and breaking down procedure
rooms at shift start and end, performing equipment sterilization, and completing daily, weekly, and
monthly quality assurance documentation. The senior tech will be responsible for all the functions of a
Endoscopy tech, in addition to the GI technologist sr job functions.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Minimum Qualifications:
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 2 years or greater relevant endoscopy experience, with 1 year assisting independently, with
advanced endoscopy procedures.
• Basic Life Support
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS OR CERTIFICATIONS
Preferred
− Certificate of Completion of Endoscopy or Surgical Technology Program, or
− Society of Gastroenterology Nurses Association (SGNA) Certificate of Completion for
SGNA Advanced Associates Program, or
− Certification from the University of Texas Medical Branch for Advanced Procedures.
