DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Collaborates within a team of GIS professionals, and across business units, to enhance and deliver high-quality GIS solutions. Leverages Python and FME to improve workflows and outputs, including analysis, mapping in ArcPro, GIS applications (dashboards, custom web services, Field Maps), field verification review, inspection data updates, and reporting.
Operate independently to manage and execute complex projects, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting of progress. While this is not a supervisory role, senior staff are expected to contribute to team development by coaching and mentoring junior Technician classifications.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The position requires stooping, bending and/or lifting of items of up to 30 pounds with occasional periods of walking on rough surfaces.
This is a Department of Houston Public Works Management position at the Tier II level.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires an Bachelor’s degree in Geographic Information Science, Computer Science, Management of Information Science or a closely related field.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Two years of professional experience working with a comprehensive geographic information system are required.
Professional experience working with a comprehensive geographic information system may be substituted for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.
