Sprout Social is looking to hire a Senior Global Payroll Specialist to the Finance team.

What you’ll do

Use your subject-matter expertise to refine our domestic to achieve greater effectiveness, efficiency, and compliance. Play a key role in processing global payroll and responding to taxing authority notices.  Assist in developing and curating our employee-facing educational materials around pay slips, deductions, and payroll taxes.

What you’ll bring

You have a strong understanding of both domestic and international payroll and Workday systems—how these work together, and the downstream impact of data quality for reporting purposes. You’ll have demonstrated experience completing domestic year-end payroll processes, including preparation and auditing of W-2s and other payroll-related tax filings and reports. You have a deep understanding and demonstrated experience and maturity in handling confidential and sensitive information. 

The minimum qualifications for this role include:

3+ years experience in a payroll administration role Strong Workday (HRIS) experience, including advanced knowledge of the Workday payroll module  Excellent analytical and Excel skills (Pivot tables, VLookups, IF formulas, etc.) Proven track record of success processing domestic year-end W-2s 

Preferred qualifications for this role include:

Experience with ADP SmartConnect  Current knowledge of applicable US federal, state and local labor laws Experience teaching/ training team members and internal auditors/key stakeholders on payroll processes and procedures Understanding of global payroll processes and experience partnering with a global payroll services provider Previous experience with SOX controls and compliance reporting 

How you’ll grow

Within 1 month, you’ll plant your roots, including:

Experience Sprout’s in-depth onboarding, covering everything from our company mission and values, hearing directly from executives and founders, to deep training on our products and the value that Sprout delivers to our customers. Make a plan with your manager to set initial priorities, align on expectations for your role, plant goalposts for your career, and learn about Sprout’s approach to payroll processes. Train new payroll team members on the domestic payroll and RSU recording process 

Within 3 months, you’ll start hitting your stride by:

Take an impactful leading role in our domestic payroll administration. Be fully cross trained on international payroll administration to support our global processes. Prepare to be active in both data entry and auditing sides. Take on a larger role in 401(k) administration and in support of 401(k) audit requests  Begin responding to escalated payroll-related employee service desk tickets, as well as taxing authority notice resolution. Partner cross-functionally to ensure accurate global payroll recording and reconciliation.

Within 6 months, you’ll be making a clear impact through:

Have your first performance conversation with your manager, where you’ll discuss your accomplishments in your role and work together to build goals for your professional growth. Take on stronger auditing role within domestic and international payroll process Work closely with Global Equity, Finance, and Legal team members and external service providers to ensure compliance in all Sprout payroll and taxing jurisdictions. Complete payroll testing of new Workday releases in conjunction with HRIS team Assist with the completion of annual 401(k) audit and filing of Form 5500 Help us optimize our international payroll processes and procedures Be comfortable taking a greater leading role with all aspects of year-end W-2s preparation and auditing, and other domestic and international payroll-related filings and or reports

Within 12 months, you’ll make this role your own by:

Be completely at home as a senior member of the Global Payroll team, as well as the company as a whole, with a deep understanding of the team’s needs and successful cross-functional partnering. Take a lead role in supporting both internal and external audit requests, including payroll-related SOX requests.  Surprise us! Use your unique ideas and abilities to continue to advance our Global Payroll function and Sprout in beneficial ways that we haven’t even considered.

Of course, what is outlined above is the ideal timeline, but things may shift based on business needs and other projects and tasks could be added at the discretion of your manager.

Whenever possible, Sprout wants to provide our team with the flexibility to work in the location that makes the most sense for them. Sprout maintains a remote workforce in many places in the United States. Individual base pay is based on various factors, including work location, relevant experience and skills, the responsibility of the role, and job duties/requirements. In the United States, we have two geographic pay zones. You can confirm the pay zone for your specific location with your recruiter during your interview process. For this role, our current base pay ranges for new hires in each zone are:

Zone 1: $83,512 to $125,268 USD annually Zone 2: $75,900 to $113,900 USD annually

Sprout’s compensation ranges are intentionally broad to allow for our team members' growth within their role. These ranges were determined by a market-based compensation approach; we used data from trusted third-party compensation sources to set equitable, consistent and competitive ranges. We also evaluate compensation bi-annually, identify any changes in the market and make adjustments to our ranges and existing employee compensation as needed.

Base pay is only one element of an employee's total compensation at Sprout. Every Sprout team member has an opportunity to receive restricted stock units (RSUs) under Sprout’s equity plan. Employees (and their dependents) are covered by medical, dental, vision, basic life, accidental death, and dismemberment insurance, and Modern Health (a wellness benefit).  Employees are able to enroll in Sprout’s company’s 401k plan, in which Sprout will match 50% of your contributions up to 6% with a maximum contribution. Sprout offers “Flexible Paid Time Off” and ten paid holidays.
