This position in Sargent & Lundy’s Consulting group will require you to focus on our utility planning and advisory projects, such as the following:
Transmission system planning and analysis, including studies in load flow, stability, short circuit, and electromagnetic transients (EMT), to support a variety of clients such as ISO/RTO and electric utilities.Preparing new generator interconnection applications, including development of conceptual single line diagram, verification of compliance with reactive power requirements, and development of steady-state, dynamic, and short circuit models to support the applications.Reviewing ISO feasibility and system impact studies to provide guidance to our clients, who are ISO Interconnection Customers. Essential skills and experience:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and sufficient industry experience is considered in lieu of an advanced degreeA minimum of 6 years relevant power systems engineering experience with utility or consultantExperience in load flow and contingency analysis to identify transmission thermal and voltage constraints and to identify transfer capability limitsExperience using transmission planning software for load flow modeling, contingency analysis, and stability analysis using PSS/E, PSLF, TARAValued but not required skills and experience:
Experience in stability analysis to identify critical clearing times, identify voltage constraints and analyze power system dampingExperience in electromagnetic transient analysis using PSCADExperience in short circuit analysis and using software programs CAPE or ASPENKnowledge of power regions and ISOs/RTOs, such as: PJM, MISO, NYISO, ERCOT, SPP, CAISO, WECC, SERC, ISO-NEExperience in Python, Java Script, or other scripting languages Award-Winning BenefitsAt Sargent & Lundy, we care about the health and well-being of our employees.
