Generac's Connectivity team is seeking a talented Senior Hardware Engineer to join our growing team in Waukesha, WI. As a Senior Hardware Engineer, you will be responsible for leading design and development activities of new products as well as design improvements to various products in Generac’s Connectivity business group. This position reports to the Engineering Manager.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Contribute to and participate in creation of new and upgraded product designsDesign and review schematics to fulfill Product Requirements and Product Specification documents, especially including RF circuits (Cellular, Wifi, Bluetooth)Perform or support PCB layout for your design responsibilities.Select and specify appropriate components necessary to support the design and create Costed Bills of Materials to demonstrate meeting cost targets.Perform and support analyses to verify the design such as circuit simulation, DFMEA, efficiency, design margin, MTBF reliabilityContribute to or create project schedules to meet plansPlan and perform Design Validation Tests of new designs and revisionsPlan and perform Integration Tests with multiple systems & productsParticipate in, and at times, lead Design Review of new designs and revisionsContribute to required documentation such as install and user manuals, data sheets, application notes for productsSupport, and at times lead, product certification testing with NRTLs, regulatory agencies, cellular vendorsProvide ongoing product support to technical support, operations, and contract manufacturers.Participate in review and analysis of returned product. Investigate and propose root cause correction.Create and review ECNs on products under your purview.Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or related discipline5 years of relevant work experience, preferably in an electronic products companyPreferred Qualifications:
Hands-on experience working with engineering lab test equipment such as oscilloscopes, and function generators.Prior experience with EV charging systems.Experience achieving certification of RF designs.Integration experience with enclosures and other mechanical engineering constraints.Experience with cellular modules.Integration experience with Energy storage systems and/or power electronics.Good understanding of residential construction and electrical wiring.Experience managing and contributing to a part library.Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Technical Skills to include board design and layout (Altium) and analysisKnowledgeable in manufacturing techniques for PCBAs and cable harnesses.Applies engineering knowledge and experience to improve products, services and processes.Able to solve complex engineering problems.Strong decision-making skills.Great ability to work in a dynamic environment and strong tolerance for ambiguity.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Microsoft software including Excel, Project, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls.
