Senior Highway Engineer | Hybrid | Providence, RI
VHB’s growing Providence, RI office is seeking an experienced Senior Highway Engineer to join our Transportation team. Duties include leading the design, development, and execution of complex highway and transportation engineering projects.

Lead the conceptual development of 3D modeling for roadway projectsPreparation and review of roadway design criteria, calculations, drawings, estimates, and specificationsProvide technical guidance to junior level engineersDesign of highways and roads including development of geometric layout, grading and drainage, working with utilities, signing, striping and environmental permittingPrepare and/or review design criteria, calculations, drawings, quantity estimates and specificationsTraffic Control and Constructability development and reviewTypical section development and pavement designCoordination with design team, clients, subconsultants, and stakeholdersConstruction support services (review of submittals and RFIs)Providing technical QA/QCSkills and Attributes
Ability to handle multiple concurrent projectsKnowledge of the policies, procedures and design standards of local and state agencies Working knowledge of programs such as Civil3D, Open Roads, and Hydro CAD is a plusAbility to manage workload and meet deadlinesTeam oriented and motivated to lead/mentor junior staffExcellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skillsSelf-motivated, highly organized, and detail orientedQualifications
8-11 years of civil transportation design engineering experience requiredBachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field requiredMaster’s degree a plus (may substitute for 1 year of experience)PE license requiredWe are VHB!
