Avantor is seeking a dedicated and driven Senior Histology Scientist to join our team in Cambridge, UK. In this role, you’ll be responsible for providing expert histopathology support for our Translational Pathology Laboratories. These laboratories play a key role in supporting biomarker identification and analysis across multiple drug development projects, from early stages to clinical trials.
This full-time, permanent position is based at our state-of-the-art facility at The Discovery Centre, Bio-Medical Campus in Cambridge. Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
The TeamYou'll be working alongside a skilled team supporting automated immunohistochemistry (IHC), immunofluorescence (IF), and in situ hybridization (ISH) assays. You’ll be part of our Lab and Production Services department, which provides comprehensive support to leading pharmaceutical companies and laboratories worldwide, particularly within Research and Development in the Life Sciences sector.
What We’re Looking ForEducation: Master’s degree in a science-related discipline and at least one year of experience in a relevant fieldExperience:Practical experience in immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, and in situ hybridization assaysHands-on microscopy and digital slide scanning, especially in the examination of human pathology samplesFamiliarity with human tissue samples and tissue-based histopathology methodsStrong knowledge of the Human Tissue Act and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) regulations, as well as related processes, operations, and complianceProficiency in Microsoft Office, especially ExcelHow You Will Thrive and Make an ImpactSupport scientists by assisting in daily histopathology tasks, including immunohistochemistry, digital slide scanning, and tissue sectioning from blocksPerform automated staining techniques on clinical trial tissue samples to aid in biomarker analysisContribute to lab operations within the Clinical Translational Pathology area, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality dataEnsure strict compliance with Human Tissue Authority (HTA) regulations and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standards while performing laboratory tasksCollaborate with the team to maintain accurate documentation and uphold laboratory safety and quality standards#LI-Onsite
