Senior HR Business Partner, Employee Relations (Remote)

The Senior Human Resources Business Partner, Associate Relations (Sr. HRBP, AR) will provide Human Resources support across the enterprise by fostering and maintaining a positive associate relations environment. This role will collaborate cross-functionally to provide guidance on HR best practices and serve as a trusted advisor for all associates and managers.  The Sr. HRBP, AR role will primarily be focused on driving the fair and consistent application of company policies and procedures, conducting independent, objective investigations related to associate concerns and providing consultative guidance related to performance coaching and counseling.  The position will primarily operate independently, seeking input and collaboration as needed, particularly when the complexity of a situation requires partnership

Primary Responsibilities:

Case Management: While serving as a neutral intermediary, conduct investigations of associate complaints, including use of the Problem Resolution Process (PRP), Hotline submissions, and a variety of complex associate relations complaints such as sexual harassment and discrimination. For each case assigned, ensures a prompt and timely resolution.  Additionally, the role requires maintaining detailed and comprehensive documentation for each case within the case management system to ensure accuracy, accountability, and proper record-keeping throughout the resolution process.  This may include providing recommendations to associates (management and/or non-management), collaboration with other departments (Example: Legal, Risk Management, Operations, Business), and preparation of responses to claimants, as appropriate. Proactive Associate Relations/Trusted Advisor: Provides early intervention counsel related to a wide scope of associate relations issues to promote pro-active steps to address concerns or initiatives that may be perceived negatively by the associates, erode the Company’s 5C culture or have negative downstream impact on the Company achieving it’s strategic priorities. This would include working with Managers to enhance their abilities to recognize widespread concerns and respond and escalate appropriately. Shall also serve as a trusted advisor to managers when performance concerns warrant coaching, drafting or issuing formal counseling (Manager Record of Discussion, Letter of Concern, Performance Correction Document, Performance Improvement Plan/Action Plans) to ensure that such conversations are productive and aligned with our 5C Culture and that appropriate follow up is taken to support the associate’s success. Support management in creating and sustaining an environment that remains union-free through positive associate relations, including conducting management training. May provide recommendations and supplemental support to the business and other HR partners in evaluating potential organizing activity(i.e. union pamphlet found in location), inclusive of identifying opportunities to enhance the associate experience and engagement through follow up and action planning. Business Partner: Serve as an advocate to promote awareness and understanding of the ODP Corporation’s HR policies and practices. Act as a resource for managers and associates to provide clarification on said policies when needed.  May work as part of a subgroup to develop, review and revise HR policies. Act as a resource or liaison to managers and associates to include directing associates or managers to the appropriate areas for resolution (e.g. Leave administrator, Benefits, Compensation, Payroll). May conduct pulse or focus groups directly or in collaboration with leaders/other HR business professionals to assist in the resolution of Associate Relations concerns. Support management with employment law compliance. Works with employment law team to respond to EEOC, DOL and other legal claims.  Represents the Company in mediations, depositions and other legal processes, as requested.

Education and Experience:

Level of Formal Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience Area of Study: Human Resources, Business Administration, or related fields. Minimum Years of Experience:5 Type of Experience: Associate relations or general HR experience Special Certifications: PHR or SPHR preferred Technical Competencies & Information Systems: Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) Microsoft 365 applications preferred Skills & Abilities: Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal  Excellent analytical, organizational, time management and follow up skills Ability to influence others and support change initiatives Able to independently perform unbiased, objective assessments and generate a suitable recommendation Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy Ability to demonstrate problem solving and critical analysis/decision making independently Strong understanding of HR programs, processes, practices, policies and compliance.  Able to liaison between various levels of the organization as well as third party vendors and service providers Ability to maintain discretion and work with sensitive/confidential subject matters, as required Ability to work independently and in a team environment Agility and flexibility to problem solve in the face of mitigating or business consideration In depth knowledge of federal, state and local employment laws and regulations Language Skills: Must be able to speak, understand, read and write English Personal Attributes & Other/Preferred: Positive, upbeat attitude; excellent organizational skills; ability to multitask and handle high case volume at times; good listener; comfortable with remote management; ability to travel; flexible and open to change
