This position is within ITW’s Specialty Segment, Zip-Pak division. Zip-Pak is the global leader in resealable solutions for the flexible packaging industry. Our expertise in zipper, application technology, and packaging systems makes Zip-Pak the primary choice of brand owners, OEM’s, and converters for innovative resealable solutions. The Senior HR Generalist will provide day-to-day professional HR support and policy administration across the North America division, with a primary focus on the non-exempt workforce. The Senior HR Generalist will serve as a trusted HR partner and advisor to departmental leaders to carry out responsibilities in the following functional areas: Employee Relations, Wellness & Benefits, Compensation, Recruitment, Leave Management, and Performance & Talent Management. He or she will be able to work autonomously and efficiently to ensure the smooth running of HR projects and operations and be able to contribute to the attainment of specific goals and results of the HR department and the organization.
Job DescriptionSenior HR Generalist support for plants in Ottawa, IL, Manteno, IL, and Atlanta, GA. This role will sit in Ottawa, IL and may require occasional travel to Atlanta, GA and Manteno, ILProvides coaching and support to front line management in solving employee relations issues, such as policy violations, attendance concerns, and performance issuesCoach business leaders and their teams on development of others. Helps identify developmental opportunities for talent pipeline within the business unit and tracks progress on development action plansInputs and maintains employee data in the Workday HRIS system such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, terminations, and employee statistics for reporting. Reviews existing human resources policies and procedures within the business units for which they are responsible, and initiates changes as necessary to ensure compliance with law, corporate policies, and business objectivesConducts and analyzes wage survey data. Maintains position descriptions and market comparisonsManages the division performance review and compensation processes for non-exempt employeesCoordinate wellness events and activities for the divisionDisability Management process owner for the division, including running a highly effective return-to-work processSupports HR with recruitment activities for the divisionLead or participate in HR projectsOther duties as assignedQualificationsFormal Education & Certification
BS/BA in Human Resources, Business Administration, or relevant field, preferred.Knowledge & Experience
3-5 years of relevant experience in human resources including knowledge of recruitment processes, benefit and compensation administration and practices, employee relations, and legal compliance requirementsStrong written/verbal communication skills; demonstrates good listening skills; able to communicate status on process with colleagues, keep team members informed, and responds clearly to employee inquiries. Demonstrates a positive and friendly attitude in working with all levels within the organizationIndependent and organized work style: Effectively manage time and prioritize work load, assume and manage multiple tasks without close supervision, adapt to change, and consistently meet deadlines. Ability to make independent decisions and regularly suggest ways to improve services and processesStrong technical skills / aptitude: Proficiency in MS Office programs (Word, Outlook, PPT and Excel).
