Senior Human Resources Manager - Plant
Position Overview International’s manufacturing facility in Huntsville, Alabama to manufacture leading-edge engines in support of our heavy truck business. This facility will support anticipated industry growth in demand while growing our market share gains, optimizing our supplier network and improving quality. We are currently seeking Senior Human Resources Manager - Plant for a highly visible role with both strategic and tactical components in our facility in Huntsville, AL. The successful candidate will work as a strategic business partner with the plant leadership advising on HR, evaluating the state of HR in the plant, identifying opportunities for improvement and developing & executing a strategic vision for the HR function. The Sr. HR Manager will also have responsibilities for overseeing traditional HR functions, such as compensation, employee development, employee relations matters, etc. Another key element will be engaging with local government, education and manufacturing colleagues in the Huntsville area. This role reports directly to the Human Resource Business Partner Director with dotted line to the Plant Manager. This position has two direct reports. Responsibilities Partnering with all levels of management and employees to communicate various HR objectives and procedures in compliance with company policy and employment law Interpret, communicate and ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures and federal and state-specific employment laws Manage and oversee a team of HR professionals that act as a first point of contact for management to provide appropriate support and guidance in regard to employee relations issues, inquiries and complaints. This team will investigate employment, employee relations, EEO and/or ADA related issues. Review draft investigative reports, report findings and respond appropriately in partnership with legal counsel and management to ensure accurate reporting Provide proactive and reactive consultation and coaching on employee relations issues to include assisting managers with the implementation of performance reviews, leadership bench/succession planning, progressive discipline and performance management plans Administer and advise client groups on all needs related to FMLA leave and ADA administration to ensure Federal and state-specific compliance Manage the staffing process in compliance with the facilities manpower needs at all levels including management roles Build strong business partnerships with internal Hiring Managers by developing effective recruiting strategies Partner with the business and Corporate Compensation to manage compensation needs. Ensure competitive compensation for retention, manage the merit review (if approved) process for the facility, administer performance evaluation process for exempt and non-exempt Support for all benefit related questions and issues in conjunction with corporate support functions; consult with facility managers and employees on benefit impacts through employee leaves Coordinate with training department to support training and development for Huntsville team members. Facilitate training as needed in the areas of management & overall team development, diversity, harassment, new hire orientations, and performance management Lean Implementation Working with plant leadership, engage with local government, education and manufacturing colleagues in the Huntsville area to ensure involvement in the surrounding communities Directs the planning, development, implementation, administration, and budgeting of most or all of the following human resource functions: employee selection and placement, training, benefits, wage and salary administration, equal employment opportunity, unemployment and disability insurance, labor relations, employee records and maintenance, and health and safety services programs. Advises plant management in personnel policy and program matters, making or recommending appropriate decisions as consistent with strategic direction. Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree At least 10 years of human resources or labor experience At least 4 years of management experience OR Master’s degree At least 8 years of human resources or labor experience At least 4 years of management experience OR At least 12 years of human resources or labor experience At least 4 years of management experience Additional Requirements Qualified candidates, excluding current International Motors employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States.
