The Opportunity with McKinstry
We are adding a Senior HVAC Controls Engineer our growing Digital Buildings Technical Services National division in anywhere in the United States.
McKinstry has a unique perspective on the life of a building, and our Technical Services suite of owner-direct offerings assists clients in making the best decisions to improve the efficiency, comfort, sustainability, and lifespan of their building.
The Technical Services team provides technical and strategic consulting services to make every building we touch more efficient. Our highly diverse group touches buildings of all kinds, from schools to hospitals to downtown high rises, with the intent to drive efficiency and optimization in every aspect of operations.
As a Senior HVAC Controls Engineer, you will provide technical support for BAS performance issues, technical support and oversight of BAS contractors and client technicians for BAS-related workflow, and project oversight for system integrations projects. Another important responsibility will be to leverage BAS analytics to proactively identify, address and optimize system operation to reduce energy consumption and improve occupant comfort.
To be successful in this role, you must have 5+ years of experience with various Building Automation Systems, especially Tridium (Niagara), Alerton, KMC, and JCI. The ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to BAS field device, code, and sequence of operation will also take you far in this role. Additionally, experience in project management, building commissioning, energy optimization, and IT networking are a huge plus.

You will be responsible for supporting the alignment of our offering and delivery teams as they evolve. Collaboration will be key between local and enterprise-wide stakeholders to set and deliver this vision. Your planning skills will support tactical development of resource plans for your team, equipment requirements, set milestones and support delivery of projects with excellence. Also, you will play an integral role in project budgeting, scoping, and savings strategies to maximize client impact while reducing risk.
Client Support
You will be a key point of contact for our clients, helping them develop and manage their internal projects, as well as leading McKinstry-generated work. Your expertise and excellent communication skills will be needed as you represent McKinstry to a variety of internal and external stakeholders, and your ability to serve as a trusted technical expert for all of their controls-related needs will make you an excellent candidate.
What You Need to Succeed at McKinstry
Mechanical or Electrical engineering degree or equivalent work experience in the built environment 5-7+ years of BAS/controls experience, especially programming, integration, and energy management Excellent controls project management and people skills Willingness to travel up to 50% Understanding of building efficiency and basic design principles and standards Familiarity with IT troubleshooting in support of BAS networks Certification or experience in AX, N4, Niagara, Distech, and BACnet strongly preferredPeopleFirst Benefits

The pay range for this position is $84,060 - $129,580 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Base pay information is based on market location. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
