Responsibilities Manage new municipal and agricultural water well projects including the following components:  well siting and well site ranking estimating water quality well yields, and the ability to meet regulatory offset requirements; site exploration; well design; well construction management; aquifer test analysis, well impacts analysis; and provide recommended well capacities and pump setting depths Lead and develop aquifer well field studies for potable water production and monitor well design and installation, rehabilitation, and operational strategies that optimize water supplies utilizing aquifer storage and recovery and managed aquifer recharge technology, support drought mitigation, and/or saltwater intrusion barriers Serve as an extension of the Water Supply and Hydrogeology Community of Practice and collaborate to support team building, mentoring, and skill development of emerging talent focused on the western US Support in the use of numerical modeling for wetland assessments, basin studies, wellfield management and recovery analyses in on or more watersheds and effects of groundwater withdrawal on surface and subsurface flows Support integrated water supply assessments and alternative water supply planning and implementation efforts for understanding occurrence and movement of groundwater, aquifer geometry and hydraulic characteristics of basins including water banking, water budget, groundwater flow direction and flow rates and water quality data Support scenario planning and implementation projects for integrated surface and groundwater water management programs and natural systems restoration projects throughout the western US and on other strategic national and opportunities Support climate change resilience planning and implementation efforts Support wastewater outfall closure programs, mine effluent management, and carbon sequestration efforts through deep well injection planning and implementation projects


Qualifications: Bachelors or Master's Degree in Geology, Hydrogeology or related field; Professional Geologist licensure in CA required 15+ years' plus experience; Established relationships with CA Regional Water Quality Control Board  Experience in use of MODFLOW and MODPATH Hydrogeologic experience in northern California groundwater basins
