Overview TRC is seeking a Senior Level Hydrogeologist to support our growing Environmental, Construction & Remediation practice in New England and New York (and beyond) managed from our Portland, Maine office. This position can work based out of any other TRC office as well. The successful candidate will report directly to the Practice Leader in Maine and will provide technical hydrogeological investigation design and implementation support for a variety of projects including groundwater pump and treat (GWPT), fractured bedrock investigations, pumping test design and analysis, oversight of geophysical investigations, hydraulic containment and re-injection, in-situ remediation pilot studies/systems, in-situ chemical oxidation (ISCO), and in-situ bioremediation as well as remedial system optimization and capture zone analyses. The successful candidate will also be adept at analyzing and interpreting data with the ability to develop conceptual site models to facilitate understanding of contaminant behavior, fate and transport necessary to develop successful remedial outcomes for our client. A broad suite of analytical and computer-based modeling skill sets is desired with an expectation that the successful candidate will collaborate and contribute to in-house centers of excellence focused on this topic. The Senior level Hydrogeologist will also serve as a technical task lead responsible for guiding and mentoring junior and mid-level consulting professionals in hydrogeologic analysis including calculations, developing technical specifications, aquifer studies and pump tests, and preparing and conducting quality-control reviews of technical documents, designs, plans and reports. Working in collaboration with project managers, remediation engineers, field team leaders, and Licensed Site Professionals (LSP), Licensed Site Remediation Professionals (LSRPs), Licensed Environmental Professionals (LEPs), the successful candidate will work on interesting site investigation and remediation projects in the northeast region and throughout the United States. A candidate with one or more of these licenses would be a plus. You could also work on international site investigation and remediation projects as TRC continues its strong growth both nationally and internationally. This is a great opportunity to work with TRC's technical experts across the organization to implement the latest site investigation and remediation technologies, collaborate on conference presentations, and solving the challenges of making the Earth a better place to live — community by community and project by project. Responsibilities Design, plan and oversee field data collection, including sampling, drilling, well installation, aquifer, and remedial system operation and maintenance. Compile and evaluate site investigation and remedial system monitoring data. Synthesize site characterization and remediation information to develop and refine conceptual site models. Utilize conceptual site models and visualization tools to communicate findings, identify data gaps, and focus additional data collection efforts and conceptual remedial approaches. Review investigation and remediation data developed by other consultants/agencies and develop recommendations for additional investigation and remediation activities. Work closely with data visualization specialists and geographic information system (GIS) experts to develop visually compelling and informative graphics. Work within quality/budget/schedule expectations and scope-specific assignments. Communicate with subcontractors, regulatory agents, tenants, and clients during field activities. Serve as Task Lead for specific portions of a broader assignment and mentor aspiring junior and mid-level professionals in the gathering and correlation of basic hydrogeologic data using established and well-defined procedures. Write and review technical documents, reports and designs, ensuring consistent delivery of materials. Ensure Quality Assurance/Quality Control of deliverables pertaining to projects and tasks self-managed, as well as projects and tasks managed by others, in accordance with TRC’s procedures. Work well with dynamic project teams and junior staff. Maintain a billable utilization target and perform work in accordance with agreed upon budget for the scope of work and schedule with minimal supervision. Have strong communications skills, both written and oral. Qualified candidates must be comfortable with periodic regional travel and client support. Qualifications BS in hydrogeology, geology, environmental engineering or related degree required. MS or PhD desired. PE, PG or PH desired. Minimum 15 years of experience. Strong written/verbal communication and organization/analytical skills; experience writing detailed technical reports. Environmental field work experience. 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification with up-to-date 8-hour refresher a plus. Strong commitment to safety, including following established Health and Safety protocols. Valid driver’s license and a good driving record. Ability to work independently and collaborate as part of a team. Detail-oriented with troubleshooting/problem-solving skills. Ability to handle multiple projects commitments at one time. Work independently with minimal supervision. Preferred Qualifications 15-20 years of experience designing, directing, and implementing hydrogeologic studies and remedy implementation Demonstrated experience with analytical and numerical hydrogeologic modeling. In-field experience performing pump tests, packer testing, pilot testing, tracer testing, membrane interface probe (MIP) investigations and oversight and data analysis of surficial and downhole geophysical data. Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors. Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company’s annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
