Located at our office in Saskatoon, this position will report to Director, Indigenous Relations, within Nutrien’s Government and External Affairs Department.
What you will do:
Lead and support others to develop an understanding of Economic Reconciliation and how it relates to Nutrien’s business and operations. Collaborate with internal partners on developing learning modules that speak to the shared history in our operating territories and the resulting contemporary context of Indigenous people and relationships. Guide the development and integration of an Indigenous engagement strategy throughout the organization. Lead a collaborative approach to the development and implementation of an internal and external Indigenous relations communication strategy. Support our existing Indigenous partnerships and identify opportunities to evolve and deepen with a focus on impact and generational sustainability. Support the development and implementation of an Indigenous agriculture strategy. Partner with internal functions to build Indigenous engagement competency including supporting HR, Procurement, Communications and Community Relations and Investment. Partner with operations teams to identify Indigenous engagement priorities and action plans and build role specific competencies that are clear, measurable and impact focused. Develop internal standardized benchmarking and analyses, including monitoring and reporting on Indigenous relationships, employee feedback, outcomes (HR, Community Investment and Procurement) and impacts. Support the integration of cascading accountabilities to ensure Indigenous representation across all job categories. Engage Indigenous communities in our operating territories to identify shared values and priorities to make a positive impact on Economic Reconciliation. Gather and present community feedback, analytics, and best practices to stakeholders while measuring the KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) and ROI (Return-on-Investment) for each program. Engage and support the education institutions to identify opportunities and gaps specific to Indigenous people and ensure that priority investments are made in trades and competencies required in our industry labour market.
What you will bring:
Bachelor’s degree. Background in agriculture and/or extractive industries would be an asset. Knowledge of the United Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples and the responsibilities of the corporate sector. Understanding of Economic Reconciliation and the Truth and Reconciliation Call to Action #92. 10+ years of experience in strategy development, execution, driving positive change for impact in a business environment, in which 8 years of experience have specialized in Indigenous relations. Demonstrated leadership presence, with an ability to inspire commitment and behavior change across all levels of an organization. Ability to handle complex issues with discretion and capacity for conflict resolution across all levels of an organization. Demonstrated proficiency in building and maintaining relationships with both internal and external networks. Advanced stakeholder management skills with demonstrated success in identifying alignment of interest and quickly translating key stakeholder needs, expectations, and issues into innovative strategies. Aptitude to effectively utilize data and analytics to create, develop and execute strategies, propose recommendations, and reinforce key messages. Proficiency to effectively manage global and complex change and shift priorities comfortably; highly effective in ambiguous environments and able to produce positive impacts internally and externally with minimal direction and guidance. Capability to grasp the complexities and methods for operating effectively in a large, decentralized global organization currently undergoing significant transformation. Skills in demonstrating ROI (Return-on-Investment) of investments, strategies, and actions by linking data to critical business outcomes.
