Job SummaryBattelle is seeking a Senior Industrial Hygienist. The position is located onsite 100% in Columbus, OH.
The Senior Industrial Hygienist will ensure the health and safety of staff in a professional, ethical manner. The Sr. IH must collaborate effectively with research staff and leadership to leverage a variety of technical expertise, ensuring effective analysis of risks and selection of mitigations. The Sr. IH will be accountable for the recognition, evaluation, and control of hazards arising out of a variety of research activities and will retain shared responsibility for work authorization.
The Sr. IH conducts worksite analysis, collaborate on project hazard analyses, coordinates incident analyses and corrective actions, monitors safety performance metrics and works with leadership and safety committees to share lessons learned and integrate enhancements that build and sustain a robust culture of safety within organizations and projects assigned.
The Sr. IH determines if a group follows regulatory requirements, client standards and Battelle standards, and takes action to ensure appropriate safety controls are implemented. The position has authority to order the cessation of activities and responsibility if an imminent danger exists that could result in death or serious bodily injury or harm.
Key Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in industrial hygiene, chemical, biological, or physical sciences; 10 years of professional experience in Industrial Hygiene or Safety; or an equivalent combination of education and or experience in a related field.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Must be a Certified Industrial Hygienist, Certified Safety Professional (or approved equivalent certification) with thorough knowledge of appropriate regulations.Must have demonstrated competence in the development and management of health and safety programs, interpretation of regulatory requirements, comprehension of the technical aspects of research operations, communication with staff members of varied organizational levels and educational backgrounds.Must be US CitizenMust have the ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.Ability to wear respiratory protection
