Nalco Water is seeking an Industry Technical Consultant (ITC) in the Global Mining Division to lead our efforts to develop, deploy, and optimize process chemical and digital technologies in the Mining and Mineral Processing industry.
The role of the Mining ITC is to provide sales and service support on a technical advisory level to the Global Mining sales force as they work to grow and maintain Nalco’s sales in the mining and mineral processing industries. In addition to supporting sales growth utilizing existing products and programs, the ITC also plays a major role in the development and implementation of new technologies. Working closely with Sales, Research, and Marketing, the ITC helps create, develop, and evaluate innovative new programs and services that provide value to our customers in mining and mineral processing operations.

Sales SupportAs part of a global division, this role will entail on-site support for a wide range of customers and presents the opportunity for international travel. ITC support in the sales process consists of strong technical support in the following areas:
·Target Account DevelopmentWorking with the local sales engineer to audit and assess customer operations to determine where Nalco’s chemical and digital technology can help improve operational efficiency, reduce total cost, maximize productivity, and improve finished product quality.·Plant Technical TrialsHelp develop detailed trial plans by assessing historical operational data and determining the best approach to help meet customer KPIs. This includes the development of the following:Criteria for success (linked to Discovery Agreement)Real-time data acquisitionEstablishing key performance indicators and pertinent operational data requirementsPlant trial support – work with Metallurgy and Operations staff during plant test to advise on recommended changes/adjustments help optimize the performance of the applicationPost-Trial Support – assist with data analysis, conclusions, and recommendationsService Support
·Assist with optimization and troubleshooting of Nalco Water technologies as the need arises in customer operations.InnovationThe ITCs play an important role in the Innovation process by working closely with our Marketing team to identify and evaluate current customer needs and opportunities. They also work closely with the R&D team throughout the technology development process, including lab testing, plant trials, and data analysis. The ITC also helps to assess the full value of the new technology as part of the commercialization process.Process Optimization, Water Treatment, Water Management A key aspect of this role will be to lead the technical support activities for the Phosphate segment. This includes the following unit operations: phosphate beneficiation (flotation), phosphoric acid production, and fertilizer production.This will encompass mineral flotation, process scale control, foam control, thickening and clarification, water treatment, and total water management. Optimize Nalco Water chemical programs in mineral processing operations by providing recommendations to improve chemical applications and operational controls in the plant. This will be accomplished through a combination of chemical modelling, data analysis, and evaluation of plant operating parameters.Assist with deployment and optimization of Nalco Water digital solutions, such as Flotation 360 and Scale Guard Intelligence.Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in technical field (engineering, chemistry, earth sciences, mineral processing, metallurgy)Master’s level degree in mineral processing is preferred > 5 years of professional experience, preferably in the phosphate segment.Agile, self-driven, and results-orientedExcellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong project management skillsAbility to collaborate within a team motivate team membersProficient with MS Word, Excel, PowerPointOur Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion
