Senior Infrastructure Engineer 

 

Purpose

Working in a team of infrastructure specialists and engineers, a senior infrastructure engineer builds, administers, supports, and maintains solutions as directed and according to architectural guidelines.  Individuals in this role will:

Ensure services are integrated, delivered, and operated as requiredWork with and support third parties in providing infrastructure servicesWork with software and data engineers to translate technical designs into operationsProvide input into overall management – workforce, budget, technology roadmaps, projects, and tasksLead and direct infrastructure specialist teams in building, managing, supporting, and maintaining solutions according to architectural guidelines

 

Key Responsibilities 

 

Coding and Scripting

Develop proficiency in the scripting tools and software that are essential in the design, build, management, and operation of infrastructure solutions and servicesUse scripting to automate common infrastructure management and operations tasks

Infrastructure Fundamentals

Design, implement, administer, and support infrastructure technologies and solutions.  These technologies and solutions can include computing, storage, networking, physical infrastructure, software, commercial-of-the-shelf (COTS), and open source packages and solutions. They can also include virtual and cloud computing such a Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS)

Information Security

Identify information security risks and the controls that can be used to mitigate threats within solutions and services

Modern Standards Approach

Competently apply a modern standards approach and guide others to do so

Ownership and Initiative

Own an issue until a new owner has been found or the problem has been mitigated or resolved

Problem Management

Qualifications & Competencies & Skills

 

Required 

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.Extensive experience (7+) in infrastructure engineering or a related roleProven track record of managing large-scale infrastructure projects and leading technical teamsSignificant experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and cloud infrastructureDeep expertise in network protocols and technologies (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, etc.)Comprehensive knowledge of server and storage systemsAdvanced proficiency with virtualization technologiesAdvanced scripting and automation skillsExceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issuesAdvanced analytical skills to evaluate system performance and identify optimization opportunitiesStrong understanding of enterprise architecture and strategic planning
