Senior Infrastructure Engineer/SAN/Vmware/Cisco/Palo Alto/Hybrid NYC

As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing our SAN and network infrastructure. You will play a key role in ensuring the performance, reliability, and scalability of our IT systems while providing leadership and technical guidance to our engineering team.

Key Responsibilities:

SAN Administration and Optimization:

Design, deploy, and manage SAN infrastructure, including configuration and maintenance of storage arrays, switches, and related components. Ensure high availability, performance, and reliability of SAN systems through proactive monitoring and performance tuning. Implement and manage data backup, disaster recovery, and high-availability solutions to protect critical data.

Network Engineering and Management:

Design, implement, and manage complex network architectures, including LAN, WAN, and VPN solutions. Oversee network performance, security, and scalability, ensuring optimal operation and minimal downtime. Troubleshoot and resolve advanced network issues related to connectivity, routing, switching, and security.

Infrastructure Design and Implementation:

Lead the design and deployment of scalable and resilient IT infrastructure solutions to meet business requirements. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new technologies and ensure alignment with organizational goals. Evaluate and recommend hardware and software upgrades to enhance system performance and efficiency.

Leadership and Mentoring:

Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior engineers and IT staff. Develop and implement best practices, standards, and procedures for SAN and network management. Mentor team members and lead complex projects to ensure successful execution and knowledge transfer.

Documentation and Reporting:

Create and maintain detailed documentation of infrastructure configurations, procedures, and system changes. Generate regular reports on infrastructure performance, incidents, and project progress.

Security and Compliance:

Implement and enforce security policies and controls to protect network and storage systems from threats. Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations related to data protection and infrastructure security.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience. Proven experience in SAN administration and network engineering, including advanced knowledge of SAN technologies (e.g., EMC, NetApp) and networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF). Strong experience with network equipment (e.g., Cisco, Juniper) and SAN infrastructure (e.g., Fibre Channel, iSCSI). Expertise in designing and managing large-scale network and storage solutions. Excellent troubleshooting skills with a strong analytical mindset. Proven leadership skills with experience mentoring and guiding technical teams. Relevant certifications (e.g., Cisco CCNP/CCIE, NetApp Certified Data Administrator, CompTIA Network+) are highly desirable.
