The Innovative Business group takes ideas for great technology and develops them into innovative new products. With a focus on Donaldson’s future growth through product development, we are intent on developing insight into our customers’ needs and how new product opportunities can fill those needs and successfully generate new revenue streams. We then leverage our technical abilities to develop those products for Donaldson business units and provide support to get them to the market.
In this role as a Senior Innovator, you will lead the development of new products in support of a number of Donaldson business units. As a member of the Innovative Business group, you will use your technical abilities to drive towards solutions to challenging problems but will also leverage your business understanding and Donaldson’s Innovation processes to ensure that we are working on the right problems. This is a great role for a creative problem solver with a technical background and a business interest in driving future growth.
This role is based in our Bloomington, MN HQ.
Role Responsibilities:
Lead projects that evaluate innovation opportunities and develop them into differentiated new solutions that deliver value for customers in existing or new markets, utilizing the Donaldson Innovation Process framework.
Work with the Business Units to determine how new products will provide value to our customers and to Donaldson.
Develop project plans for the products being developed, including development of the business hypothesis, proving product feasibility, and testing areas of high risk
Ensure that we establish and maintain IP protection for our new products and technologies.
Work with other Donaldson Corporate Technology groups, Business Units and Manufacturing Plants in developing new technologies and manufacturing methods.
Interface directly with product end-users to support customer research and market segmentation
Support the achievement of Corporate Technology performance metrics and initiatives.
Travel 5-10%.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and minimum of 3 years of experience in the design and development of technology or products. An advanced degree in a technical field may be substituted for experience.
Strong presentation skills and ability to communicate well at all levels
Experience working in a process-based system.
Demonstrated leadership skills
Comfortable in making decisions and dealing with ambiguity.
Project Management experience, with proven results. MS Project experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree in Engineering or Business
Experience in New Product Innovation
Business/Financial Experience
Experience in interfacing directly with product end-users
Understanding of filtration technology - applications, design, theory and principles
Experience in interfacing with complete value chain – suppliers, dealers, OEMs
PMP Certification
Annual Salary Range: $86,200 - $111,000. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors including, but not limited to applicable work experience, training, education, performance.
