Senior Instructional Design and Development Consultant

Build your career with IU Health! We have an exciting opportunity available for a Senior Instructional Designer to join the Learning and Development team at our Downtown Indianapolis location on a hybrid schedule. Previous experience in corporate or healthcare learning design, and demonstrated experience in developing leadership development programs is needed to be successful in this role. 

The Senior Instructional Designer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining leadership development programs and resources for leaders at all levels of IU Health. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in creating engaging and impactful learning experiences that align with strategic priorities and drive leadership growth and organizational effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Design and Development: Create and design leadership development programs for all levels of leaders, from emerging talent to senior executives, to include instructor-led workshops, e-learning, blended learning, experiential simulations, role plays, games, micro-learning, and more. Content Creation and Innovation: Develop high-quality instructional materials, such as facilitator guides, participant workbooks, job aids, multimedia resources (e.g., graphics, audio, video, etc.) Incorporate the latest research, tools, and trends in leadership development into design. Needs Assessment: Partner with key stakeholders to conduct needs assessments to identify leadership development needs and gaps to align programs with organizational goals. Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with program leads, HR/OD partners, senior leaders, and subject matter experts, to ensure alignment with organizational goals and objectives. Evaluation and Continuous Improvement: Implement evaluation strategies to measure the effectiveness of leadership development programs and continuously improve content based on data from participant feedback, business needs, and emerging best practices. Technology Integration: Leverage learning technologies and platforms to enhance the delivery and accessibility of leadership development programs and services and create immersive and interactive learning experiences. Project Management: Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards. Maintains project documentation and course folders.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated ability to create leadership development solutions for diverse audiences and organizational levels. Experience designing behavioral simulations or experiential learning activities. Familiarity with DEI principles and integrating inclusive practices into program design. Familiarity with leadership assessment tools (e.g., DISC, MBTI, Hogan). Proficiency with learning management systems (LMS), and virtual training platforms. Strong communication and collaboration abilities. Impressive portfolio or website showcasing some of your best work.

Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Adult Education, or equivalent years of experience is required. Master's degree is preferred. 5-7 years of relevant Instructional Design and Development experience is required. Requires extensive knowledge of instructional design methodology (e.g., ADDIE), rapid design/development methodology, adult learning theory, and assessment tools. Requires high proficiency with Microsoft Office. Requires demonstrated skills using standard authoring and graphic design tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline/Rise, Adobe Captivate, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft PowerPoint, FSPro, etc.). Requires strong project management skills. Experience working in a large, highly matrixed clinical/business organization is preferred. Certified Professional in Learning & Performance (CPLP) is preferred.
